I get why these shows exist in their current state though, it allows AEW to pad records and make their whole ranking system make sense.
They should do away with the rankings. With the bloated roster I don’t see how it can function as intended
I didn’t think the records/rankings thing would work, but I think it has and I’ve grown to like it as it makes the titles mean more.

How often have they actually publicized the rankings?

It's nice to have. Makes it harder to justify giving some newbie a title shot.

By going on a ten match win streak.

They announce the new top 5s every week.

So that takes precedence over total wins? I know skill of opponents or where they rank are factored in.

Nobody reads that.

Looks like the Acclaimed were 1 though, and Cole is #1 after his one win.

The one win is for 2022. The top 5 from the previous year stay in their ranking even though the records reset.

They don’t do the rankings announcement on tv, but the announcers always reference the rankings during Dynamite and Rampage. I’m not saying it’s perfect but I think it adds something to show, especially whe. Their competitor doesn’t consider wins and losses at all when booking.

If the rankings carryover has does anybody gain ground without way too many squash matches…I enjoyed it and thought it was effective when their roster wasn’t so bloated but now there’s just too much suspension of disbelief.

Well I think the idea is too look at each year as a season a la team sports. There is no careyover(other than the top 5) because it’s a new year.

Yeah but still how does anybody realistically gain ground on the top 5? I suppose I’m just more of a fan of organically developing feuds/storylines that lead to title matches.

On another topic, I really hate that so many current wrestlers break kayfabe in interviews.

Wow so apparently Cody is a free agent right now. Not sure if it a separate thing from his EVP job though.
