I dug the more personal story of the Ersos, political maneuvering between Tarkin and Krennic, and the lack of big battles. I can understand how someone would be bored by it though.

The lack of a 4K release for this movie really sucks. I don't think I can bring myself to buy it on standard Blu-ray.

Is that really a thing LV?
I've never heard of it as a format. Is it really niche or high end or something?

It's not a snobby thing at all. It's just that I really, really enjoy watching 4K content, and knowing that this movie was filmed at a resolution higher than 4K, and everything, including the visual effects, were finished at 4K, is going to make watching this in 1080p seem like a goddamn shame.

Yes, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is the new format. It's been out for about a year now. Absolutely is a high-end niche thing right now, but it's getting more traction than I expected, which makes me happy. Unfortunately, Disney tends to be the last studio to upgrade formats (it took them longer than any other major studio to make the jump from DVD to Blu-ray), so I'll probably be waiting a while.

I don't know if I've ever actually watched a movie in HFR, but I don't like the concept. Seems like it would create unnatural motion, almost like building "Motion Flow" directly into a movie. The Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk 4K is going to be in HFR, so I guess I'll see how I feel about it then.

I think that's kind of awesome. Lucas using his clout to force theaters to get with the times and modernize their tech. Good for him.

I just watched the trailer for that Billy Lynn´s movie...Ang Lee directed that? Im hoping the trailer is somehow misleading because it looks awful.

Here's the thing. The HFR is obviously only a thing in the cinema.
To describe it? And I know it's been used before, it it felt like watching an old 80s tv show but in really high resolution. Sorta tv camera quality but it was off putting. It didn't work on big screen. Wonder if will catch on.
