"Drive" (2011)
I really liked it, but realised afterwards that I'd watched a re-scored 2014 version, so now I need to watch the original

Re scored? by who? The Cliff Martinez soundtrack is one of my favorites.

Wtf? The score is like 99% of what made it good.

not scored exactly, soundtracked; it has some original score, some band songs including "Medicine" by The 1975 and a song by Chvrches; apparently Zane Lowe did it for a British TV version or something? it was cool but I had been looking forward to a bunch of synthwave

oh damn sounds awful, specially if they took the songs from the original and put a 1975 song, jesus christ

The Return
This sucked a whole lot. A whiny, mopey, cheap, anti-war soap opera that had nothing to do with The Odyssey. Could have been 30 minutes, but was stretched to nearly 2 hours. Ralph Fiennes looked ripped and badass though. No one else involved with this was trying though.

if all "action movies" had this much heart, I wouldn't hate them

Gosling is both a real human being and a real hero.

Ok, weekly update on that project thing. I saw two more movies. Another Ozu, End of Summer. Not one of his most popular, but just as lovely as any Ozu I've yet seen. If I wasn't focused on this one list, I might be tempted to dig into even more Ozu I haven't seen yet. As it is, I have one more on the list. Not sure if I want to save it or look at it right away. The second movie was Sergei Eisenstein's Soviet propaganda retelling of the Russian Revolution, Oktaybr. It's the kind of movie that makes me want to read a wikipedia article, so I can better understand what I just looked at.
242 films and exactly 17 months to go!

Why do you call the Eisenstein movie Oktaybr but you don't call the Ozu movie Kohayagawa-ke no aki

You clearly did that to remind us that the October revolution actually happened in November

Disclosure Day
What was the point of the world being on the verge of WWIII? Seems its sole purpose was to be a big story to be preempted by the alien stuff. Oooooo.

I actually think this one could do some damage at The Razzies. It was pretty stupid.

Burn After Reading
First rewatch since release. I appreciate McDormand and Malkovich a lot more now than I did then. Just phenomenal actors. The latter might be the most convincing asshole in cinema history. He's magnetic. And Clooney is genuinely hilarious! I completely forgot he could act once upon a time.
Such a killer movie. Might have to rewatch every Coen bros film now.
