Forgetting the ending, did anyone ever read any Robert Cormier when they were a kid? I Am the Cheese, The Bumblebee Flies Anyway, Fade, We All Fall Down? He was such a unique YA writer; his books always had undercurrents of Philip K. Dick and Kafka. Anyway, this game made me think of him the whole way through (including the ending, I guess).

Totally loved Chocolate War and I Am The Cheese and I completely agree with your tonal comparison. That same queasy feeling of someone looking for safety in a sinister world.

Yea, I'm already impressed by the cutscenes. Not quit Last of Us good, but certainly better than Tomb Raider.

No one is on the same level as Naughty Dog with cinematics in big budget games.

Maaaaaan I don't want to spoil anything for trag, but I think starting with Uncharted 1 is a must before playing 2 or 3. Not necessarily for storyline purposes, but for gameplay elements...I'll put it in a spoiler, I guess, even though the games are so old?

One thing that really did impress me about the first game was how it morphed into a zombie-shooter thing like 2/3 of the way through. 2 and 3 did similar things with the the yetis and other supernatural beings, but I feel like 1 did the best job shocking me out of the game I had come to expect/become comfortable with into an almost completely different genre.

My buddy brought the switch out to the bar just before.. we usually go Sundays for wings.. thing is neat.. it picks up where he left off at home.. we were playing it as like the wii u with the controllers on each side, he also propped it up on the bar n detached the controllers n played like that

Game was really cool, we were just rolling around aimlessly.. it seems to be a massive world with a billion things to do

The hardware itself is really nice, feels very premium and sturdy. The docking and undocking is smooth and quick. My hands got a little cramped playing it as a handheld with the joycons attached (I have big hands). I set it up with the kickstand and held the joycons separated and it was much better. Felt like the Wii with the remote and nunchuck.

I haven't had a chance to play Zelda much, but was very impressed with what I've played so far. Love how wide open it is. Truly feels likes an open world.

It came totally out of left field and scared the shit out of me.

My current gaming schedule:

1. Finish Gears of War.
2. Finish Mass Effect: Andromeda.
3. FINALLY FINISH OCARINA OF TIME GODDAMMIT

I totally ruined my PS3 controller today trying to repair it (something that I had once done successfully before). New ones still cost like $40; does anyone know of any third-party ones that are semi-reliable in the $40 range?

GOG sale. Picked up a bunch of old games that I've pored hours into without paying for in my youth. Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, Ultima Underworld 1 & 2, Deus Ex.

Damnit, I meant $20! $20!

I ended up just ordering a junk $15 from Amazon, hoping that it works.

I've never messed around with third party controllers. They usually suck.

I wouldn't say I'm annoyed. I just have no interest in them. Same with Twitch streamers. I want to actually play games in my spare time, not watch someone else play.

I feel like I would more into both if I was 10-15 years younger though.
