Well actually there is a new toy and pretty much all the fanbois will have it...and a character to expand in a book were we learn ¨the mysterious backstory¨ of the character.

Hux has its action figure, and every completist will buy it. And im sure we will see a book about his character as well too like that Phasma book....does it matter in the movie? No. Because its such an expendable character as Phasma.
Its baffling that you cant see this sort of things with a property like SW.

I'm not sure I follow exactly what you're driving at. Yes, there is a Hux action figure. And I'm sure plenty of fans (especially those identifying as "completists" -- because that's what that word means -- will buy it. But I'm not sure what that has to do with the price of death sticks at Dex's Diner. I also don't see any reason to deride those fans that choose to collect toys and merchandise from franchises they love.
Perhaps characters like Hux (why are we talking about him all of a sudden again?) and Phasma were created and put in the film specifically for marketing/merchandising purposes. Though, I think there's a much stronger argument for Phasma in that case than Hux, but whatever. Maybe they were. Maybe JJ and the art department literally sat down with the marketing/toy department and said, "how many characters can we shove into our movie for no reason other than someone will buy a toy of them?!" But who cares? Ultimately, if those characters pay off on screen who cares why they were originally created?
My point is that regardless of marketing/merchandise, these characters (Phasma and I guess we're still talking about Hux too for some damn reason) have interesting things about them that COULD be explored in the films. I'm not saying they will be. But I hope that they are. Maybe, at the end of the day, they'll prove to be nothing more than throw away characters. But I hope not. Because I can see the potential within them from a storytelling standpoint.
Finally, I think it's great that secondary storytelling streets exist. I'm glad there are books and comics and cartoon shows that can expand on these characters. But ultimately, they don't impact me as much because I don't really consume them. I'm only talking about the movies here. I think Phasma could be an interesting MOVIE character. Let's see if they develop her more fully. If all we ever get is a book, that's fine. The books still count. I just probably won't read it and I'll still look at the film version of the character as a missed opportunity.

DcT. You're asking for game of thrones on Star Wars.
You want phasma explored in the movies?
How much do we actually know about Leia or her backstory Onscreen, for example? Almost nothing.
I'd like to know more about everyone too but priorities man.

It's genuinely bizarre. But whatever. It's fine. At least we've got a new Star Wars movie to look forward to.

There's always been a disconnect in meaning in Star Wars fandom. People just wait til the other guys finished so they can disagree with him. We've been mostly good at avoiding the heavy side of that up until that last film. I guess it's down to who you're interested in. We've waited 30 years to see luke on screen again. If they then go off developing someone like phasma and giving her story screen time there's gonna be outcry. And why do that when they can it books and comics etc.
It's not a priority. I get that there's people want it. Same way there's a whole community want a boba fett standalone. But if you make that movie before the Obi Wan movie let's say, there's an even bigger outcry.
So it's a matter of spinning plates and keeping them all up in the air in order to make people happy. And nobody is fully happy at the end of that. But that's how it is.
Biggest wish we can have for Last Jedi is that Rian is allowed break the usual Star Wars run time. What is it, two hours twenty minutes? This film deserves to be three hours. There's enough time there to make everyone happy I believe. Let's hope.
*i think she will get fleshed out given she's back after such an odd exit in TFA

I dont think we are asking for a full on back story. This doesnt need to take time away from the bigger story. This can be done in a very short amount of time with well written dialogue.
