Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
Today is Father's Day in Aus and my kids bought me a turntable, which is pretty cool.
I've set up the turntable upstairs with an old pair of Sonos Play 5s I had available - sounds great.
My plan is to use this upstairs area as a quiet zone and try to take an hour out each day to sit back, read a book and listen to some quality vinyl. Trying to do something positive for my head space which God knows I need.
So RMers, what are some must have vinyl albums I need? I'm looking for generally quieter, more contemplative stuff, but in saying that the field is very wide indeed. For example I'm currently spinning my old copy of Sade's Diamond Life, which is right in the sweet spot I'm talking about here.
I appreciate this is a big question but would love some suggestions. What are your go to albums to throw on when sitting back with a quiet beer and a book?

It may be a bit heavy but not much in my collection tops
Seachange by beck in terms of sound, I’ve got the MFSL
copy but I’m sure you can’t go wrong. Is also recommend
Three EP’s - Beta band
Shame - Brad
The crowded house reissues are pretty magnificent
What rhymes with cars and girls - Tim Rogers
Many more, but I’m blank on Sunday nights

Feel like some Yo La Tengo albums would suit well for Higgs Hideaway

Are you just shopping in general? Or is there some sort of sale youre alluding to?
