I never said otherwise, champ.VinylGuy wrote:By the way Joe, what i express are my views, my own disenchanted thoughts in out pop culture.
Im worried about big corporations taking over this beloved titles and making them on repeat just to make money, more money, toys, books and comics, and rides...Of course ill see this one, im exited about luke and rian, of course the rides are a blast...but its ok to do it and still be careful about it...Its ok to go enjoy a movie and still think its own existence is to sell a new bunch of toys.
Again, just my view. You dont have to think the same or be defensive about it.

Even as a kid I hated clip shows. You know the game was up when your favourite tv show did that.

star wars seems like an odd property to have this concern about. What you are worried about has been baked into this franchise from the moment it was a hit. I was sleeping in Darth Vader underoos in 1980, playing with action figures of obscure characters who had no dialogue and 3 seconda of screentime.VinylGuy wrote:By the way Joe, what i express are my views, my own disenchanted thoughts in out pop culture.

I sort of agree with both of you. Yes, Star Wars was the original movie series to heavily use toys and comics and more. But if you are into SW, you can still worry that Disney will mess it up and overdo it.stip wrote:star wars seems like an odd property to have this concern about. I don't know how aware you guys were of it but Star Wars was a merch juggernaut long before Disney became involved.

Would totally agree with that when it comes to merch and toys all that.
The branding though, seeing bags of oranges with a Star Wars label on it and kylo with the lightsaber n all, that was a new level of pervasive

I just saw a force awakens space hopper in the window of my local convenience shop.
You don't want to know how long I stood there resisting the urge to buy it.
A little internal dialogue littered with 'I can bounce around the house...on a Star Wars space hopper..nobody need know...'
I resisted temptation. I may run around later post beer and buy it.

'Hours of fun'
Although it also says 'from the new film Star Wars the force awakens'
I didn't see any space hoppers. Are they canon?

Just wait.
Of course SW was already a big franchise juggernaut, but im guessing Disney will fuck everything up by adding more and more and more and more ...MOAR TOYS, MOAR RIDES, JUST BUY THEM.
BONE FUCKIN´ TOMAHAWK.
