same here
there is always gonna be negativity, and right now especially since there is such a limited amount of info for us to stretch into this 200 and something page thread, but there are still a decent amount of us that are excited

Didn't we only just spend 30 odd pages discussing a non existent song from a fake tracklist? What more do you want

I think the album thread is longer here than at the pit.

It's definitely longer.

Yeah, all in all, there's been more anticipation and mindless speculation than actual negativity, but I've just returned from writing a piece of work that's stressing me the fuck out, so I'm crabby and only noticing the negative. Perhaps someone will let me grope them for a smile.

I am excited for this album. There isn't a PJ album that I don't like overall and I hope (again the word hope) that LB delivers.

But those 3 songs don't inspire hope.

I'm still waiting for excitement to start building for me, but it's still two months away so I'm not worried yet.

Same. I really haven't even been thinking about the new album. I'm still in the blackout club - I have only heard MYM so far. And, I haven't listened to that song in 2 weeks.

I'm super excited. I really like LB and MYM. I can't stand FD so I just basically ignore it. But I am genuinely excited for the album.

I'm very excited in the abstract, but can't be bothered to sustain that excitement in the absence of concrete things (read: new information) to care about.

I think much of my RM rage is down to that lack of news. We'll probably never find out why they announced this thing 3 months before its appearance.

Pretty sure Stip gave a good reason for this. They had to officially announce it before the tour venues did.

OK, fair enough. But before they even had a tracklist finalised :gomez:

I am excited and anxious for the new album, but I'm most looking forward to the tour and GA in Worcester and Hartford. I think once we know more about the artwork, the tracklist, and get some interviews/song reviews, things will start ramping up. Just hoping the shows are a little more loose, jams and emotional, rather than polished, and upbeat...GIVE ME COLD CONFESSION! Ahaha.

We're 2 months out from release and less than that for tour, so we're closing in. Remember that interview where it was revealed PJ handpicked people to interview them and review the new album? Things should start trickling out real soon and pick up steam as time rolls on.

Expect to see them on Fallon, SNL, magazines, and everywhere in the coming 2 months.

Edit: The reason for the 3 month away announcement is because that is the way they've always done things, promote and tease, make a splash, build tension, and drive us rabid fans bonkers--30+ pages on rumours and conjecture.

I'm definitely still excited for (and POSITIVE about) Lightning Bolt. (So much so that the title doesn't even annoy the piss out of me anymore  ) Mostly because, no matter what the final product reveals, I will most likely be obsessed with it for at least a month and I expect it to provide me with great entertainment just like every other PJ album does during that "getting to know you" stage. It's pretty amazing that, 22 years after my first Ten experience, I still get to feel the nervous excitement of new PJ album enthrallment.

I haven't listened to MYM in a month (and I don't plan on listening again until the album) and I've only heard LB and FD once (but I really have no idea what those songs will sound like since the audio was pretty crappy and after only one listen I can't remember much of what I heard). The little taste I have is not enough to make me jump off a cliff or start rating the album as a 2/10 like some nut jobs on here. So it should be fresh and exciting either way. And there is certainly no reason why I shouldn't be hopeful when PJ has always managed to deliver something enjoyable, even if newer albums are less delightful than previous offerings.

In the meantime, I've been passing the time with this chronological countdown:

PJ listening until 10/15
1. 7/15-7/21: Ten, Singles Soundtrack, Temple of the Dog, MTV Unplugged, Ten Redux, Drop in the Park '92
2. 7/22-7/28: Vs, Vs Reissue, Vs Demos, Orpheum Theatre ‘94, Atlanta ‘94
3. 7/29-8/4: Vitalogy, Vitalogy Reissue, Vitalogy Demos, Monkeywrench Radio ’95, Soldier Field ‘95
4. 8/5-8/11: No Code, Merkin Ball, Mirror Ball, Vinyl Night 1 – Ten to No Code
5. 8/12-8/18: Yield, Single Video Theory (DVD), Do the Evolution (video)
6. 8/19-8/25: Live on Two Legs, Constitution Hall ‘98
7. 8/26-9/1: Binaural, 2000 Bootlegs
8. 9/2-9/8: Riot Act, Riot Act Movie (DVD), Vinyl Night 2 – Yield & Riot Act
9. 9/9-9/15: Live at Benaroya Hall, 2003 Bootlegs
10. 9/16-9/22: Lost Dogs, Rearviewmirror, Man of the Hour single
11. 9/23-9/29: Pearl Jam, S/T Demos, 2006 Bootlegs
12. 9/30-10/6: Backspacer, Backspacer Demos, Vinyl Night 3 – S/T & Backspacer
13. 10/7-10/13: Live on Ten Legs, 2009 Bootlegs, Fan Club Singles & Rarities
