hahaha wtf? Assuming how someone would react to trump's idiocy does not protect someone else from displaying their own idiocy. Aleppo is one of the oldest cities on Earth. Don't use perceived ignorance as a shield.
Nor should you use geographical ephemera that didn't become relevant again until 2016 as a shield.
That's a sloppy sentence, but I'm too tired to work it out.
Team Trag.

I have no idea how this thought keeps coming up that Aleppo has been a spec on the windshield of human history until now. That just seems like classic 'merica arrogance. Confused.

You must have some super smart friends. Until 2016, my friends only spoke of Aleppo as the origin of a particular type of chile pepper.

Super smart? This is isn't string theory, it's just having a very general, baseline knowledge of the world.
I can't say I know much about you; I've seen your posts before and nothing stuck out as particularly nasty. But right now you sound like an arrogant shithead, the sort of people I don't miss at all from my years on Cambridge. But I'm also incredibly grumpy from getting no sleep last night, so I'm sure that's contributing.

I'm the arrogant shit head here? Alright. Good talk.

JW's attitude that the history of Aleppo is basic knowledge strikes me as the sort of intellectual arrogance that drives me bonkers.

He disagrees.

It's fine. I'm fine with disagreeing. I don't need a hug.

Well I find it arrogant and condescending that you think not knowing Aleppo is fine because it hasn't been in the news until now. I've always disliked that attitude.

No hug needed. We cool.

He/She/Xe is very passionate about Syria and the refugee crisis. That often leads to a different weighting of priorities, so don't bother arguing.

I spend roughly zero seconds a day thinking about the situation in Aleppo. I don't wish them ill, but it's not something I worry about on a day to day basis or care if my presidential candidate is knowledgeable on or has a plan for (though that loon should at least know where and what it is).

First time anyone has described me as passionate but yeah at least know where and what it is. I honestly don't think that's asking too much.

Foreign policy might be the thing the President has most direct control over. I'd like it if the candidates knew the cities where major conflicts were occurring.

I think it's entirely fair to expect a presidential nominee to have decent knowledge of an ongoing conflict.

I also think it's entirely fair for a "normie" to not have known about Aleppo until recently.

It's not. I just don't think it justifies the current ZOMG level response the internet and media have given it. It reeks of the "protect the Hilldog" mindset.
