Scioscia is far and away the most overrated manager in the league.

I root against the Cubs because of what has now become pretty close to hatred for Joe Maddon.

I hate the Cubs because of the culture surrounding the team, even though I'm a big fan of Joe Maddon and Jon Lester.

No beef with Lester, but I can't stand Maddon(or Theo, for that matter.)

It's the whole cutesy loveable loser thing. It's the way people talk about the whole experience of going to Wrigley like the game itself isn't the most important thing. It just rubs me the wrong way. I get the parallels to the Red Sox, and they're things I don't even like about my own team.

But also, I hate how leading up to the 04 World Series everyone nationally talked about the Cubs and the Red Sox like they were going through the same thing. The Cubs haven't won in 100 years because for the most part, they just sucked. The Red Sox didn't win because teams with the talent to do it would choke at the last second. No

I know those reasons aren't very good, sometimes I just decide not to like a team.

Here's the the thing with the Cubs for me, and why i do like them and root for them somewhat..

Coming home from school in april, may, june, and september and watching games on WGN is one of my favorite things ever.

Also, I'm a big fan of watching devoted fans lose their shit when their team loses on the big stage. Watching Kentucky basketball fans cry was amazing. And it'd be really awesome to watch Cubs fans lose their shit if they were to make it to the World Series and blow it.

this is why my brother in law, a native of wisconsin but not milwaukee, became a cubs fan. i remain a brewers fan first, but i too have fond memories of watching WGN games after school (the brewers weren't on tv much back then) and like the cubs. they were my NL team until the brewers moved to the NL, in the same division.

I can understand this. While my affinity has waned over the years, I have fond memories of watching Braves games because they were always on TBS in the 90s.

yeah, i watched a bunch of those too. i enjoyed cubs broadcast more because of drunk harry caray though.

wasn't what lost the game/series anyway. there was a solemn acceptance of what was unfolding though, because the fans just knew it was over then.
