Yea, this scanning phenomenon that has been in Fallout 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and now ME:A are really unattractive to me. It's like an RPG element shoe-horned into an action/open world game in an effort to appeal to every gamer out there. It's application in Fallout 4 was fun at first, but ultimately grew tedious as I kept fighting the same types of characters. MD seems to be having fun with Horizon, so maybe it works better there?

The scanning in Horizon is pretty minimal, plus it fits the story. I don't mind it all.

Some of this writing is pretty embarrassing.

EA has some good stuff out there.

They do but they have a history of rushing developers and putting money and deadlines above quality.

A very long history of doing that.

Yea, so I've read. The two recent EA experiences I have are with Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield 1.

Battlefront was quite obviously rushed, and you had to buy at least a couple of the DLCs to feel like you had a well-rounded game. They did a good job of rolling out a new DLC every quarter, and providing updates online (after the DLC was out) about gameplay mechanics that were nerfed/buffed/changed. But they really failed in giving us any heads up that the last two DLCs would focus almost exclusively on the flying missions.

Battlefield 1 has been a very different experience. The game felt complete on day 1, and the first DLC that came out looks awesome (Premium players have had it for a week, I won't get it for another week myself). They continue to update us on nerfs/buffs/changes, but are still keeping mum on what sort of gameplay the future DLCs will include. And -- and this is quite maddening to the dedicated player base -- they are completely changing the ammo resupply system into what they call "Ammo 2.0," in which you no longer have to find a Support team mate to resupply you, but rather your ammo all resupplies passively now. So they have basically killed one player class, and are trying to turn it from a very skill-based and teamwork-based game into something that appeals to the casual gamer.

Actually, the game perked up for me immediately once Peebee was introduced. It has plenty of problems so far but I'm enjoying it now.
