Yet still better than the two movies before it.

I'd agree it's a lot more enjoyable than the two before it. Opening battle even manages to feel a bit like Star Wars. It gets lost after that a bit but still much better than the other two.

Nope. Not even close.

That's what gets me about Sith: people act like it's somehow better than the other prequels when it is not. At all.

You can argue that but you can't argue with people just enjoying it more than the first two.

Re: Sith being the best of the worst...eh, I don't know. They all pretty much suck. Lucas is indeed a smart guy, but I think he overthought this whole thing.

At it's core, Phantom should have been about Palpatine's rise to power, followed by a strong bond forming between Anakin and Obi-wan. The ending of the film (last 20 minutes or so) should have started the Clone Wars.

Attack of the Clones could have been Anakin and Obi-wan side by side fighting in the Clone Wars (I guess something along the lines of the Clone Wars cartoon). In the background, Palpatine is in full power and loving it. While Anakin can't get his thoughts of having some of that power he feels he's entitled to. Not to mention, he loses focus a lot b/c of his hottie wife (that dumb shit about Jedi can't love / fuck / get married should have never happened).

Revenge of the Sith should have started with Anakin flipping on over to the dark side (last 30min of Clones, maybe first 30min of Sith), while the Clone Wars draws to a close. Anakin's lust for power (not stopping people from dying - maybe some of that, I don't know) is in full gear and he's getting more and more arrogant and stronger. Obi-wan is sick of this shit and confronts him, they fight (just for like 5 minutes or so, not that boring as half hour surfing lava thing we got), Obi-wan fucks Anakin all up, leaves him for dead. Anakin survives, becomes Darth Vader, leads team with Tarkin to hunt down remaining Jedi. Yoda goes in hiding, while the Rebellion, led by Bail Organa, Mon Motha, and Padme, starts. Obi-Wan takes Luke to Owen's and stays to look after him. The End.

Jar-Jar has the most interesting character arc in the prequels. They should have been about him.

I mean, ultimately, they sort of are. Obviously, they're mostly about Anakin. But Jar Jar is damn near the most pivotal secondary character. When I think back on what the first three episodes are about and what happens in them, the first thing I think of is how brilliant Jar Jar's arch was. And I'm not kidding.

Yeah, sith was easily as bad as the previous two. Hammy, flat in all the wrong places, owner of some of the worst acting and worst dialog of the entire trilogy. And they managed to make the one event that all this was leading up to...this tragic fight between friends....so over-the-top in scope and length that it felt like an emotionless glowstick stunt show.

I think it only gets credited with this "best of the worst" crown because it was "dark."

To be fair to the prequels, though, I don't actually consider them to be rock bottom on the "formerly great property turned to trash" list. Maybe they are, but the competition is fucking fierce with stuff like Crystal Skull, Jurassic World, and I assume Terminator Abortion out there as well.

Yes, Crystal Shit, Jurassic Shit, and Genishit are all far worse than any of the prequels.

I actually liked the second of the three "new" movies the best. Only because by the third one, Hayden had that character so whiny I couldn't take it.

The climactic battle scene in AOTC is pretty cool.

The prequels are really bad...i watched them again last year and it was so difficult.

Never watched Phanton Menance again though.
