In a little over 24 hours I’ll be less than 500 miles from Ukraine. Probably with a nuclear meltdown happening. Not sure how I feel about that

Its divine will that the lands of Peter the Great are re-integrated. Ukraine turned their back on God. Simple as.

If Putin has no qualms shelling a nuclear power plant then he sure as hell won’t have any issues launching nuclear missiles.

Update on my relatives near Kherson: They are still doing ok, and have not personally been involved in further incidents (my sister in law's brother got his roof ruined at the start of the war a week or so ago). The Russian soldiers have occupied both their town, and the nearby city Kherson. The soldiers are easily frightened, and have shot at some cars with regular people (non combatants) inside. My sister in law's parents had to go to the store, and found that there was very little food left to buy.

Just saw a dreadful video on twitter. 33 people killed in a rocket strike in Chernihiv. Seems to have hit a neighbourhood.

"Volodymyr Zelensky survives three assassination attempts in days
Two different outfits have been sent to kill the Ukrainian president — mercenaries of the Kremlin-backed Wagner group and Chechen special forces. Both have been thwarted by anti-war elements within Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB)."
Sounds too incredible to be true. From The Times.

Glad to hear they’re ok. Hopefully the food situation will resolve.

I hope so too. They are usually self reliant financially, but my brother sent them money a week or so before the war broke out, and asked them to store up food and medicine. They also have some geese, and a garden where they grow stuff during the warmer months, from which they also make things for the winter, so the situation for them shouldn't be critical after just a week. They probably felt it was safe enough to to go the local stores, even if their situation wasn't critical at the moment, would be how I perceive it. Maybe to get further food for storage before it runs out, not knowing what the outcome of this will be, or how long it will last.

I’d be telling them to take the geese inside at this stage.
Either side could act the bollix here and take them and raid the house.
Glad they’re on now though. But scary hearing this real time

Protests against Russian occupation have broken out in the port city of Kherson, Ukraine's only big city to have been captured in the war so far.
About 2,000 people marched through the city centre, waving flags and singing the Ukrainian national anthem.
They shouted patriotic slogans including "Russians go home" and "Kherson is Ukraine".
Kherson, a key port on the Black Sea and the Dnieper River, fell to Russian troops earlier this week.
