Well, it's a chicken or the egg thing, because while they have had pretty good talent, they have changed coaches fairly quickly so there are quite a few misfits. Until they have some continuity I think that's part of the issue.
Lovie screwed up the QB situation last year going with Mccown. That was a mistake. Michael Johnson must really not work if they are losing 7 million for him to go away.
Wierd that they are looking at another GT guy in Derrick Morgan if Johnson didn't work out.
Not sure I understand how the college they went to has any influence.
Just an odd coincidence. I think they were both there under Chan Gailey. Morgan has apparently left town anyway.
Yep. Left Atlanta without a deal as well. Something is up with him.
either he is weighing all his options or wants too much money for his 6 or so sacks a year.
any thoughts on Tampa possibly being interested in Greg? Hardy?

Man, I want nothing to do with Hardy.

im about the same way, just wish there were more options out there for edge rusher, there might be some available in the 2nd round of the draft but i think OL will be more important with that pick

Agreed. Bucs are not in a situation in which they can be picky either. Really concerned about the O-line. It's been an issue for what a damn decade now?

I still have this feeling that Glennon could be better than average with a good O-line. But I'm not sure he'll get his chance, at least in Tampa.
I agree on Glennon. Tough to say. They must see something that they don't like.
He seemed to be in a similar situation as the older Carr brother back in Houston. David I think. That guy had mad potential but set records every year for number of times sacked.

I just heard that there are rumors out there (from ESPN, so take it for what it's worth) that the Saints are interested in unloading Brees and his huge contract for the number one pick. Not sure how I feel about that unless they bring Brees to mentor Glennon, maybe that is why they've kept Glennon on the team so far?

I read about that rumor as well. If that goes down Lovie and Licht should be fired immediately.

yeah I mean at this point, after such a bad season, you gotta be in the "QB of the future" mode, not a "win it all this year" mode.

Yep. You don't paper over the cracks with a 36 year old QB when you have the 1st pick in the draft. Tampa knows what to do. It's not often a team can get a franchise level QB in the draft and pair him with an absolute stud WR and it is incredibly rare to pair him with two stud WR's.

On this day 39 years ago, the Bucs drafted the best Buccaneer in team history, Lee Roy Selmon.

It sucks when great players like him don't get the proper recognition because the teams around him didn't help him out.

Rumor now is that Cleveland is willing to trade both 1st round picks this year and possibly one next year to move up. I wouldn't mind if Tampa did this and shored up their OL and maybe take Bryce Petty in the second round or something. Give Glennon another chance with a better OL. Winston isn't going to be able to do much with that crappy OL.

Cleveland will need to trade a lot more than that. Also, riding with Bryce Petty/Mike Glennon and a improved O-Line is a safe and comfortable turn into cementing yourself as painfully average football team for the next ten years.

i kind of feel this way too, ive wanted one of the QBs no matter who the whole time because hopefully the Bucs will never have the chance to pick #1 over all again and if a franchise QB is in the draft then you take them. but since its pretty much become inevitable that Jameis will be the pick ive started to back off on wanting Mariota and now i am finally getting excited about Jameis. if everything falls right they can still get a possible starting OL and a rotational DE in the next 2 rounds and be in a lot better shape then last year, but ill fully expect this next year to be a bit rough but 1 more draft hopefully focusing on OL will have this team in great shape

yeah, I get that. But I also know how a bad OL can ruin the potential career of a possibly really good QB (see David Carr). I'm fine with Winston or Mariotta, just worry about the protection issue if they are going to be the starter this season.

they drafted a couple of project O Linemen last year that they may feel good about for this year since they didnt go crazy trying to sign top FAs this year, but i would be shocked if they didnt use their 2nd or 3rd this year on a tackle or guard that would probably be able to start this year, and they could always trade back up into the first if they see someone falling. i dont think it will be a top 10 OL this year but i think it will be a lot better then last year.

"seriously" listening to trade offers. Sounds like a bunch of fluff but whatever:

Yeah, that's the very minimum I'm looking at if I'm TB. But I'd push really hard for at least one more high (like a 2 this year or next year) pick. Probably two more high picks.

thats from about 2 hours after pretty much saying its a lock the Jameis is the pick. the Bucs may have a lot of problem areas but truthful draft info getting leaked is not one of them, we wont know for sure who the pick is until the card is in next thursday unless they decide to sign someone a few days before the draft, dont forget how even though most all mocks had Mike Evans pegged to be the Bucs pick, it was being reported like crazy that the Bucs were in love with Manzel and that if he was there when the Bucs picked then they were going to take him.
