This is really all I was saying. It was less, "This is what I think definitely happened," and more, "It's not crazy to think that this could play a role." Any change in creative direction, songwriting approach, collaborative dynamic, etc. could play a role -- I would think that anyone who has ever been involved in a creative project of any kind would understand that. I mentioned Watt only because he is a recent collaborator whose style seems pretty hands-on (and who has been floated as a collaborator on future projects), and it's possible (not definite!) that that's not everyone's cup of tea. I think the members of PJ are all great friends and would absolutely do what they could to meet each other halfway. But it also doesn't seem crazy to me that, at 62, if someone in Matt's position found he just wasn't feeling the creative direction of the band, he would want to take the time he had left to concentrate on projects that he found more fulfilling, to spend time with his family, and to take care of himself.
Again, I don't think this is definite; I just think it is possible. Everything is pure speculation at this point, including the viewpoint that it's 100% definitely no-questions-asked related to physical endurance with zero chance that anyone in Pearl Jam could ever be creatively unfulfilled. It seems to me like there's just as much potential projection in that as there could be in anything else that's been kicked around.

I could get on board with Richard Stuverud drumming for them. I'm sure he's capable enough to handle some Matt era staples like NAIS, UK, MYM, and the DM songs.

Reports are both Stuverud and Dave A were offered the job with Pearl Jam but turned them down due to their commitments to Strat
