I just got back from a used book store where I picked up Last Evenings on Earth by Roberto Bolano and White Noise by DeLillo.
For Christmas I got some short stories by Hemingway and Average is Over by Tyler Cowen. I'm going to try and finish as much as I can before next semester begins.

The title story from "Last Evenings" is easily one of my favorite works by Bolaño. "Dance Card" too. Really lovely stuff.

After a thread on Reddit about best lines in books kept bringing up books by John Green, I decided to start reading them. Finished "Looking for Alaska" and it was pretty well-written. The words were good (lol) but the plot was a little predictable - it could only be one of two things by that point of the story - but the story was well done.

I really want you to read it. There is one ending to a chapter that is just devastating. It's subtle, but it comes through and punches you in the gut. I want to know if you pick out the one I'm talking about.
