He's the most hit-or-miss director I can think of. Going into his movies I have no idea if I'll love them or hate them.

My issue with Nolan is that he both hits spectacularly and misses spectacularly in the same movie. The net result is that a lot of his stuff leaves me feeling like it was "fine". But for such an ambitious movie to swing hard and settle on "fine" feels like a real failure
Please consider voting for me

I would argue that this is because he's a bad director, or at least he's become one.

Absolutely loved Memento, Interstellar, Inception and The Prestige. The Batmans were okay. I still need to see Insomnia, Dunkirk and Tenet.

I don't disagree with that, I just don't think he's the only one, which means I'm not going spot him as many points for bad movies.

In terms of being able to produce and open original movies on that scale, I'm not sure there's all that many besides him; and I'm not saying that as a good or bad thing, I'm just saying besides someone like Spielberg or James Cameron, I'm not sure there's many directors who can say "here's an idea I came up with, I'll need $200 million and a July 4th release," and basically get carte blanche approval. That may not happen anymore because of how Tenet came out, but it was that way for a while.

I didn't even know that he directed Benjamin Button until about two weeks ago. I guess I should watch it.
