They are going to leave it all at the Chicago Theater next Friday by the way.

They better not.
So we probably should have waited and bought the Chicago show on StubHub instead of immediately moving on to Detroit after the Chicago presale sold out. But this way I didn't need to take any time off of work, so that's nice anyway.

Here, my run of posts in the thread below should help you:
The show was good. I now know I'm not prone to seizures due to the aggressive light show. Damn some of those lights were BRIGHT. About three or four times the video screens really blew me away. There was a weird intermission between sets that I thought might have let all the energy out of the building until I got steamrolled by the second set. I really want to see these guys with a full backing group as some of the songs didn't really explode like they could have with only the trio up there (I'm looking at you, Festival).

saw them on thursday night and i would agree with you about the lack of oomph due to the trio set up. it is what it is, but after seeing them with a buttload of people on stage a few times, there was certainly a notable difference in how the songs came off. i was extremely happy they did five tunes from (), that was unexpected in 2016.

Great show. I was thrilled how much they played from (). I avoided watching any videos/reading any show reviews before going so I didn't really know what to expect from them playing as just a 3 piece. For some reason I was picturing it being completely stripped down, almost acoustic-like, which it obviously wasn't.
Festival was definitely the song that was most noticeably affected by only being the 3 of them, but even then only at the climax of the song. I still loved every moment of show and it reaffirmed yet again how much I love this band.
And yeah the lights were very bright. At one point the bright lights being shined in my eyes made me sneeze.

In addition to seeing them as a full band I'd like a different venue as well. Chicago theaters sound was fart like with some of the bass and lower frequencies.
Really only minor complaints though because those guys really bring it. The drummer especially hit so hard. Very impressive.

Yeah, the drummer was fantastic to watch. I think previously I've been further away and there's so much going on all over the stage that I'd never really focused on him before, but he was awesome.
I definitely look forward to seeing them again with full accompaniment but I'm really glad I saw them like this. The fact that those 3 guys can still make those songs sound as good as they did is really quite impressive. Since the show I've been listening to nothing but Sigur Ros, which is always a sign of a great show.

I saw them last night, and they were excellent. The standout songs for me were E-Bow, Kveikur, Saeglopur, and the new song, Ovedur. I agree with everyone else about the drummer. The guy can play. I think I liked this show more than when I saw them on their 2012 tour.

Had Varoeldur on my playlist for yoga last night. Preceeded by 8 (circles) by Bon Iver. That 1 two punch fucking slayed me and i got all teary eyed. It was while iw as teaching and they were in savasana (nerd alert) but i got weepy. It was night and the lights were off.
Ive been emo lately though so thats part of it.
anyways. carry on

I love Sigur Ros but I've not seen them live. I've had the opportunity but passed every time due to venue or other commitments (one time was an amorous wife (mine). A mate called me an hour before a sold out show and my wife convinced me to stay at home that night. it was a rather pleasant night).

No concert will ever rival amorous sex. Good choice.
