I still think these songs could have fit into the album, but as I've come to appreciate Binaural for what it is (instead of disliking it for what it isn't) I've found a great admiration for what is there.

Sleight of Hand is the single best song PJ has ever written. Nothing As It Seems is wonderful. I love Breakerfall, Of The Girl, and Rival. Evacuation and God's Dice used to be two of my most hated PJ songs. I have come full circle on Evacuation and I truly enjoy it now. God's Dice is pretty rad too. Then there is Insignificance, Grievance, and Parting Ways. All very strong songs. Thin Air is forgettable, but when I do listen to it I don't hate it at all. Light Years has never been a favorite of mine. I find it pretty boring, but it isn't terrible, and I occasionally almost think I could like it. (I really wish Sad was in its place.) Soon Forget is a stupid song and should never have been on any album, but I can't complain too much about one pure piece of shit making the track list. (Education should've been in this spot.)
There's a lot of apologies there for your number 2 seed
One song that I seriously don't like (Soon Forget) and one I find pretty boring (Light Years) is a lot of apologies?
well, thin air, too.
I don't hate that song, I don't even dislike it, it just seems invisible most of the time. Whenever I actually give it a listen I have no objections to it, I just don't particularly listen to it much at all. I'd give it 3/5 stars.

You could make a good case to order the top 4 in any order. The "quite a bit" part is what I disagreed with.

Man, Thin Air is a good song. I like it better than I was giving it credit for. I'd still give it 3/5 or maybe 3.5/5, but I do like it better than I was initially selling.

I'm Open is terrible. I'll admit that, but the highs on No Code surpass the highs on Yield / Binaural. As for Binaural, I clearly love it, and it made my top 4, but it's still so frustrating. Seriously, I hate "Soon Forget" almost as much as I hate "I'm Open". Why the hell is that song on the album and not Fatal? So to me, that's takes points away from Binaural as much as "I'm Open" takes points away from No Code for you.

I disagree. Soon Forget is terrible, especially when you consider Sad, Education, In The Moonlight, or Fatal could have replaced it.

Soon Forget has a lightness and levity to it, while I'm Open is so super serious in an adolescent way it makes me cringe. I can't listen to it.

When I said "Thin Air is forgettable, but when I do listen to it I don't hate it at all" I can see why you would have thought I didn't care for the song. In truth, I just barely ever listen to it. But when it does come on I don't hit skip, and I do sing along. I should have said "Thin Air is forgettable, but when I do listen to it I always like it better than I remember". That would've been the more accurate description.

The airy, experimental, new age fuck-it attitude embodied by I'm Open is one of the (many) things that makes No Code so interesting. The fact that they felt free enough (partially thanks to Jack, who co-wrote) to include a track like that speaks directly to their headspace as a band at the time. That headspace allowed for a certain relaxation, which one could say was needed after Ten-Vs-Vitalogy.
