270towin is an interactive tool that lets you set each state’s status (the usual safe/likely/leans/tossup set) and see how it looks in terms of the electoral college. Which makes it sound like a toy, but it’s surprisingly popular with party strategists on both sides....probably because you can say “well, what if we lock down Texas? How does that change our path to 270?” And it immediately corrects the totals around that.

This particular map, I came across because an election strategist for John Thune who I went to school with shared it on his social media, with the caption “time to save the senate.” Which I take as “the presidency looks like a wash.” I have since seen the same map shared by another Republican strategist, and an ex-Republican strategist who worked on McCain’s presidential run. None of them disputing the numbers.

It looks to me like it’s based purely on local polling numbers, and let me give you two examples of why: Biden and Trump are neck-and-neck in local Texas polls, ok, so it’s a toss up. But in Wisconsin, where Biden has a small lead, there’s another factor at play which I don’t think they adjusted for. Republican state government has prevented state-wide vote-by-mail expansion, but places like Milwaukee are responding by investing in huge programs for themselves. So while Biden’s lead is likely to be small, or could even be neutralized, come Election Day...the liberal population centers will have provided hundreds of thousands of absentee voting applications directly to voters, while the rest of the state may not have. The map calls it a toss-up based on polling. I’m not sure it shouldn’t be “leans D,” just based on the circumstances of voting this year.

Seeing the first hints of the (unavoidable) process through which principled conservatives, a source of such concern during the democratic primary, talk themselves into voting third party anyway.

It definitely doesn't, and it would never hold up even in the court of public opinion if it were the only piece of evidence, but that's not really the case here, is it.

I'm by no means defending what Biden's being accused of, but you do understand that there are lots of people who work in the office of a US Senator right? I find it a little interesting that he said "in US Senator Joe Biden's office" and not "by US Senator Joe Biden while working in his office."

You're telling me he's not the only guy working in his office?

What- were US Senators on the open floor plan seating before the rest of us? in the early 90s?

hard to believe

Dude, he's not saying "office" like the physical space Joe Biden works in. It's "office" as in the entire workplace and staff that supports US Senator Joe Biden. Like Post Office. Or Patent Office.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHhhhhhhhh........LOL.... I get it now. Faaaack.

It was gang-bang style by the entire office so they can't single out Joe, even though he probably hit it first. Genius.
