yeah, the RTO memo was making the rounds yesterday. It hasn't officially gone out to my agency, but it's coming. Then early this morning a "test" email arrived in our inboxes from OPM's hr.

A few of my coworkers are pissed about RTO. I'm not as upset. A lot of fed work went to situational TW or a hybrid, making employees go in office - at minimum - two days per pay period.

Our office doesn't have enough seats for the amount of butts we have, so the rollout would take time. And if I do find myself back on site five days a week again...it was a nice run. I've no desire to seek private sector employment.

I think this the smart move. Don't panic, see how things play out for a bit before making any decision you might regret later.

Why is RTO such an issue with MAGA? Surely it’s a cheaper option and as long as the work is done, why does it matter where it’s done?

It’s a backdoor way of getting people to quit without firing them.

If employees aren't sad, they probably aren't working hard enough.

I think I read somewhere, that it has a lot to do with tax credits and write offs for businesss/corporations. If all employee's are working from home, they can lose out on such things.

I believe local governments are really pushing for RTO on the back end as well as many downtown areas are struggling and part of that is people aren't down there working anymore. High vacancies, businesses leaving etc. So, lots of tax dollars being left on the table for local governments as well.
