It is what it is, I’ve accepted that it’s unlikely we’ll see anything really good from them again. I’m happy they are still touring.

This is where I am settling too. I had a great time at Wrigley in August. If I have a few more experiences like that in the years ahead that will be good enough for me.
Do I want more, sure. But I'm realistic.

they'll be working on songs and in the studio in the next month / through the spring. record. ed will go on tour in June while BoB is finishing it up and get mastered, and Jeff works on the art. give another ~3months for physical production. released in October/November.

Seems like they take their summers off to spend with their families(besides the touring). I say next spring for the album.

yeah, last year´s show was amazing.
Im super happy they are touring and Jeff, Matt and Mike are doing music. Im happy that Stone seems to be into going to the studio again too. Im not waiting for the new album, but it takes just one studio pic to make me exited again.

Does anybody seriously think that the "next" album is not going to be total dog shit like the last 3 albums were?

It's going to be horrible if it ever comes out. I'm really hoping they break up instead of releasing another one.

I hope it's a beatbox and spoken word concept album.

I remain optimistic that they have good music in them.
I also won’t talk myself out of it before it even comes or listen to it with an eye for criticizing it before it is released. We’ve now had decades where critics and others look forward to ragging on a Pearl Jam release to optimize their street cred. It would be a shame for fans to do the same without giving it an honest listen.

16-20 of great to fucking amazing music and countless live performances and changing the landscape of our being for a large majority of their time as a band*
*the last album cycle and current lack of immediacy to do it again reduces said optimism

buuuttttt, among other things . . .
- they haven't put out a great album since 2000
- they're lazy
- they insist on working with a producer that either has terrible taste or doesn't have the balls to tell them the truth
- their recent live performances are predominately centered around songs that are nearing 20 years old
- they haven't shown a willingness to stray from their paint-by-numbers approach to recording new albums in forever
