Cockteases.
Yeah, this quote could literally have appeared following any of the last 3 albums.
Eventually they'll mean it!

I say they write stuff on road this tour, come back, record it in a week and put it out. If we focus our collective energies on this I'm sure the universe will answer.
After Backspacer, you think they could record an album in a week and have it turn out well?

That pitchfork review is pretty spot on.

Well the car test settles it. Face Dances on the Division Bell Under a Lightning Bolt You Can't Leave Behind is the pinnacle of late era Pearl Jam.

I said on the tour! Jam it ouuuttttt like young people and everything.

That said, I'm not completely sure they wouldnt be able to write a decent album in a week.....depending on the kind if album they wanted to make, maybe I'm kidding myself though.

Jeff with Stone could.

Actually, you guys are right. They could jam it out and plan it on tour, in the absence of O'Brien.

Except for some glaring mistakes like the fact that he doesn't like Riot Act. He's pretty inconsistent; he criticises the band for writing too many stock-rockers (and inserting them as track 2 for an obvious single), and then says they should be making more songs like MYM (which is a generic rocker, track 2, and the first single).

I believe several people have said it has. Probably also several people have said it didn't, or will if prodded.

Probably. And maybe if they tried to stick to some sort of aesthetic or if one of em took more control for an album or something, rather than Jeff writing something cool, ed sharting pop melodies all over it and mike shooting 80s jizz at what's left. I'm not saying that would definitely work though, I'm just bullshitting.

I'm convinced eds got a cool concepty type album in him somewhere. Somewhere deep down, crusted over with years worth of sea salt.

I actually thought that when i was listening, and those are my fav tracks thus far after listening. (I dig swallowed whole also in an ITW kind of feel) Getaway has a nice chorus hook to it. Agree also the middle of Father's son resembles brain of j - not a bad thing!

Sirens, after the initial shock of being a ballad wore off, is by far the best song on the record and MYM holds up after all this time. The last four tracks could be dropped completely. In fact, I'd rather here Let it Ride and Cold Concession after SW....hell, even Ole.
