Yeah, I'd think the Lannisters would give it to someone strong. It looks like a place a lot of people would want. Whatever.
Kind of a cool episode, but also kind of not much happened.

They were not subtle with Jon talking about denying the ancestral seat to its rightful heir right in front of Sansa with Littlefinger looking on.

It was the most catch-up-episode episode of all time for this show. There have been plenty of season premieres in the past that leave certain storylines out and save them for the second episode; I feel like we touched on everything this time (no sign of the Dornish or Theon/Yara, but their whereabouts can be assumed based on what Dany's up to). As I was saying earlier, I'm really hoping that the remainder of the episodes slow down and allow some of the storylines to breathe; I don't really need Tormund making eyes at Brienne, but I'd love to see what the streets of King's Landing are like at the moment, post-Sept Explosion.

I think the Arya storyline is playing out along the lines I set out in a post earlier today, i.e. she's struggling between being a vengeful ninja and an actual human being; her humanity won out today in not slicing up those Lanister soldiers, but we'll see how it plays out. As I mentioned in a post above, I feel like the opening scene was nearly a waste: we knew it was Arya the whole time and there was zero tension. Wish they had come up with something a bit more gripping. It does work as a general foil to the later scene, I guess.

If I were the sort of person who rated episodes, I'd give this one a B-, I think.

I've got something to say about this brewing conflict in the book thread.

-Very strange that dragonstone was totally empty but there are no more baratheons now. So that's what now 3 houses that have been wiped out? Bolton, Frey, and Baratheon? Wait there's still the bastard Baratheon. The smith. So nevermind. Just two houses.

-Dragonstone is Dany's home. It's where she was born. It's the Targaryen's original keep from when they invaded five centuries ago. So it's like Jon and Sansa coming back to Winterfell. Very cool to see.

-lannister's can't hold dragonstone while holding up the frey's. At least that's what I tell myself. Lannister's are a broke house, drowning in debt, with no allies.

Yeah, I guess the Lannisters have had bigger fish to fry than sending someone to protect a castle that apparently needs a lot of outside help to be sustained. fair enough that it is empty.

Solid episode. Thought the Hound stuff was really good. I was worried the abbreviated season would skip those types of moments. Dragonstone being abandoned was weird, but it doesn't hold much strategic value for the Lannisters right now with little allies, men, and it being an island and all.

It's not surprising that Littlefinger would be more in line with Sansa's thinking here, since he's from a very young house and has feuded with the great old houses his entire life. So, yeah, something like that.

Also, Littlefinger wants to use Sansa for his own gain so he wants to see her in a position of power.

Littlefinger knows he can manipulate Sansa. He has no influence on Jon Snow.

If I were the sort of person who rated episodes, I'd give this one a B-, I think.

This was right on par with previous season debuts. I don't think it moved too quickly. I'd rather just have one catch up episodes than two.
