Watched the new Hercules. Flawed, but enjoyable. Some awkward editing in the first 25 minutes, but it recovered. Solid action sequences and it was maybe the hardest PG-13 I've ever seen - way more blood than I was expecting.

Is this the one with The Rock in it? Watched that the other night - it was pretty good in spite of its flaws

Great so far except ugga bugga to riding horseback within one scene? Didn't buy that.

The Signal. Intriguing. William Eubank (whose debut feature, Love, is one the great undiscovered gems of recent years) certainly has an eye for transcendent imagery. I need a little more time to sit with it before sorting out all my feelings, but the movie definitely has themes of communication on the brain. Also coming-of-age, transcending limitations. Elements also seem to be a Cloverfield-esque defamiliarization of a young couple being separated by divergent life paths. I'm not sure it all jells in the end, but it's a pretty compelling (if a bit overlong) viewing.

Can't decide how I feel about that ending, though.
