True. Hope they work that in there in an appropriate way. Snoke killed her.
To be clear, her being Luke's daughter is the last thing I want. I think it would just make the whole "new" storyline so much more stale.
The opposite for me. If the characters are just random people, it will severely weaken the story.
I'm not saying random, but would be much more interesting if she could be say, Obi-wan and Satine's granddaughter or something like that. Or tie her to lesser known characters from books/shows to then have an outlet for future stories for them. If Disney wanted to, they could keep telling stories FOREVER in the time period of TPM - Episode IX.
My strong preference, actually, would be for Rey to remain completely unrelated to anyone we know so far. If I was in charge, that's what I'd be doing. But I'm not in charge.
Then how does she fit into the overall nine episode story?
What do you mean? Exactly how she's fit in so far. She's someone who is exceptionally strong in the Force and gets taught by Luke Skywalker, that's how. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that. She meets Luke. Was Yoda related to Luke? No, and he didn't need to be. Rey learns what she can from a strong Force user who has been through a lot of shit. He's "the chosen one" in the eyes of Obi-Wan Kenobi. That's no small thing. She learns from him, maybe fights with him, and then carries on his legacy and the legacy of the Force (if not the legacy of the Jedi specifically). That's a great story. In no way does it require her to be a Skywalker or a Kenobi or a Palpatine.

By the same token there are no plans for any saga films past 9. If Snoke turns out to be Vader it would bookend the whole thing and put a full stop to it. I wouldn't write it off out of hand. I haven't seen it yet to see how it plays out. I'm way more up for this than some bullshit about Plageuis.

Anakin was the chosen one. Who knows what happened him of what he could do once he passed into the force?
Anakin became one with the Force. He became a Force ghost. Only the good/white/light side Jedi are able to become one with the Force and live on as Force ghosts.

Snoke is a 7 or 8 foot tall humanoid character from beyond known/charted space.

These are fact that we know. Of course, there's a way for them to reconcile those two things and retcon a bunch of shit and change the rules on us. But it would be completely stupid and unnecessary. There's no need. It would completely alienate fans. What's the point of rules and continuity and canon, if you can just break away from all of that whenever you want? It's lazy and stupid and bad writing. It's inconsistent and it's not even interesting.

I just don't see a valid reason to make Snoke Anakin. And I don't think there's a realistic way to make that interesting. But whatever. I'm wrong all the time. Maybe I'll be singing a different tune if/when that turns out to be exactly what they're doing. But I just can't fathom a way that it can work.
You're not wrong. It's a stupid theory. If it turns out to be true, then fuck me, unless it is written well and intriguing.
Well sure. Any idea COULD be well written and intriguing. But this one flies in the face of too much known and established canon to make any sense to me. Again, I'm not saying they won't do it. But if they do, they're giving themselves one HUGE and unnecessary mountain to climb. And the risk is there is zero payoff. I just can't imagine that's what's gonna happen.

Though, as far as your above point bolded text......Sith's could have figured this out as well at some point....
Sure. But it's been reiterated time and time again that they haven't. The Clone Wars series makes this pretty clear. So, to go back on that would be extremely tricky and, again, unnecessary. There are plenty of satisfying reveals/solutions for the Snoke problem. Making Anakin is more complicated and stupid than it's worth.

Yoda was tied to Luke through Anakin and Obi-Wan. If Rey is just a girl that is strong with the force, and with no backstory, that seems terribly disappointing to me.

I don't see why. But fine. It isn't to me at all. I think it would be the most interesting and satisfying of all possible options.

Also, you do realize that before Order 66 there were hundreds, maybe more, Jedi, right? And the Force isn't restricted to the Skywalker family.

I'm just not sure why she can't be a "random force user" WITH a backstory. No one is saying she won't have a backstory if she isn't a skywalker.

I feel like it's a pointless battle Ruddo. I'm with you 100%. And I'm sure she will be connected somehow. But it would be so much more interesting if she isn't.

Yes, but this saga isn't about the jedi in general. Lucas has said many times that Star Wars is the story of Anakin Skywalker.

They're already changing the nature of the force. Luke seems to have found a new way. Snoke seems capable of it too whatever it is. Let's just see. It won't be badly written or stupid. No matter what it is.

Yoda was tied to Luke through Anakin and Obi-Wan. If Rey is just a girl that is strong with the force, and with no backstory, that seems terribly disappointing to me.
Also, you do realize that before Order 66 there were hundreds, maybe more, Jedi, right? And the Force isn't restricted to the Skywalker family.
Yes, but this saga isn't about the jedi in general. Lucas has said many times that Star Wars is the story of Anakin Skywalker.
Right. And Kylo is Anakin's grandson, so there you go
True, but he is not the main character, and he's evil. Of course we had Leia in a supporting role, and now we have Luke. We'll see how it goes. But I'll be looking to find out more about Rey and Snoke, and hopefully it makes sense. Each of these episodes are like a GOT season, and now we are hitting season 8 and the final 9th one. Hopefully stuff makes sense at the end.

I suspect Rey and whoever survives will then get a new trilogy after this one. This story will end the skywalker 9 arc saga. It's got three damn skywalkers in it. How many more does it need?

Her mom is Ahsoka.
I know you're joking. But I want this to be true so badly. It won't be. But god I want it.
I would like that more than her being some God-like Force baby.
The idea of making Ray "of the Force" is only interesting in that it's an opportunity to "un-do" or "re-do" some of the nonsense in the Prequels. If handled correctly it could really retcon some dumb shit and make it interesting again, I think. So, I'm not opposed to the idea on its face. It's not probably my preference, but I do think there is a way to make it work and make it really interesting.
I'm opposed to on its face, ass, cock, titties, twat and anywhere else you want to name. It was stupid with Anakin and it would be stupid here.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

I wish he had kept control, but I'm still glad we are getting movies. Now it seems to be more up to the director than an author though, which is usually an approach that can lead to terrible creative decisions. Although, for SW, we did unfortunately get a few of those for the prequel trilogy as well. Still after ep 3, there was no doubt what story the episodes were telling. It was about Anakin, Leia and Luke. Now they are continuing the story.
