pitchfork is just an easy target
Nah, I don't think anyone's really riled up about it. We're all used to it by now, but it's be crazy to think it could go completely undiscussed.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:i havent been following this thread much this afternoon, but are people really worried? i thought it was a decent but totally expected write up by them, i dont think they will ever like a PJ album but i could care lessLament wrote:I don't think any band's fanbase is as hung up about what Pitchfork has to say about their beloved as Pearl Jam's are.

One wouldn't claim that, but that's because the album is varied enough over the dozen songs that there isn't really a cluster that qualifies as "representative."BurtReynolds wrote:Most of these reviews insist on summarizing PJ's entire career and then fitting LB into that, not just Pitchfork. I don't get it either, but few music critics are very good at their jobs, IMO.
Though in their defense, saying an album as a whole is "more of the same" while ignoring the few outliers isn't that bad (that's why they are outliers). The majority of the album is more of the same. You wouldn't claim My Father's Son is representative of the album.
Three different ones, aside from my personal blog, but they're not Pitchfork. My writing is too gushy and sentimental for Pitchfork.harmless wrote:Jorge still hasn't told me what music publication he writes for. I bet it's Pitchfork.
It took a couple decades, but the correct response to the David Lee Roth quote is "why do meth addicts like David Lee Roth?"Heathen wrote:David Lee Roth quote about music journalists goes herestip wrote:look at those elvis costello wanna be glasses!
I love this. Let this not go unappreciated, people.stip wrote:big gestures left ungested.
