LB sounds very Backspacerish to me. MYM not so much but productionwise it does
Is 'Backspacerish' a dealbreaker though, if it's better?

Is 'Backspacerish' a dealbreaker though, if it's better? My issue wasn't the production as much as the songwriting. LB, for all its faults, sounds like one of the better Backspacer songs. And I doubt they would produce LB to sound exactly like UK anyway. Even if they did, I think it's structured more tightly and has more interesting parts. So yeah, I'm just wondering whether people are hoping it sounds nothing like Backspacer at all, or just that it has better songs?
I want better songs that sound like Yield
Great answer

Well, I'm not sure if you read my post, but I argued up there ^ that the only thing separating Backspacer from any other albums was production. Apart from maybe The Fixer, any of those songs if produced differently could've been on Yield or even Binaural (or any of your favourite PJ albums). Same goes with LB. I think the best indication we have that LB won't sound like Backspacer is MYM's totally different guitar tone. It's more aggressive, and little bits of LB sound more 'messy' on guitar than UK.

im trying to
But also, me too. It would be really fun to get a tracklist that was different to everything we've seen. Seeing Johnny Guitar on the last one was a real curveball.
and where's the sponge is a little bit more difficult to accept then johnny guitar IMO

Really? At least Where's The Sponge? is funny right off the bat. I'm not worried about the tone of it, I have some clue. On the title alone, I was worried that "Johnny Guitar" could sound like Dire Straits.

johnny guitar just sounded like it was gonna be a random rock song and of course far exceeded that, but i have trouble seeing what where's the sponge

Mods, do something about overquoting! I know its possible - I'm a mod. Limit inquoting to two or something. There's gotta be a button.

I think it'll be a whimsical, silly song that doesn't mean a lot, possibly a silly interlude. But that doesn't mean it can't be good. The last time they did a weird track like that, it was red dot, which wasn't my favourite but it did add something humorous and colourful to Yield.

just the opinion based off of the name, the song is very much liked by most here, but the title of the song was quite a debate for a month or more before we heard it
