ill watch the second one, just because i used to be a fan of Hornby and High Fidelity, both the book and movie. I guess my main problem is that its hard for me to feel empathy towards these characters.durdencommatyler wrote:Um.. I guess if you're bored then just stop. Does it really pick up?
For those that aren't bored though, definitely keep watching. This is a truly phenomenal tv series. It's outstanding.

I can certainly understand that. Even in the source material Rob is meant to be selfish and unempathetic -- or rather I think Hornby is trying to see how far he can push the character before the reader turns away and says "I can't empathize with this dude at all."VinylGuy wrote:ill watch the second one, just because i used to be a fan of Hornby and High Fidelity, both the book and movie. Show Rob is far more empathetic, to me, than Movie/Book Rob. And I like the majority of the other characters. Simon, especially. I can absolutely identify with him. And Clyde as well. But I think everyone in the show is compelling (as characters) and everyone is doing wonderful work (as actors).

Re: What are you currently watching on TV?
I think it has more to do with age maybe? I can see how cool or poor these guys when i was 18 maybe...it looks so cool so have a record store and listen to music all day and complain about lost loves...at my age, with the things i do...yeah, its not even funny. I guess its more about growth, which is also what the book and movie was about, so maybe this second ep is closer to what i want...
So far, Simon and Clyde are not even remotely close to a character, they are Archetypes... And Cherise was almost close to be a SNL parody.
But , like i said, it was only the pilot.

Corporate Season 1 is alright. Exactly on point and enough to keep me going.

Re: What are you currently watching on TV?
I really enjoyed the first two seasons but never got around to the third. The few things I've seen Dornan in have been good as well, though nothing associated with the 50 Shades shit could really aid that utter pile of steaming dung.durdencommatyler wrote:One of the best shows if the part decade.Donald wrote:Started watching The Fall and so far it's damn good, despite having that pants stain from 50 Shades in it - he plays a REALLY good creepy guy

Just finished watching all three seasons of Sneaky Pete. Bummed they aren't doing another season, really enjoyed it. Took about two to three episodes for each season to take off, but I really liked them.

Really enjoying Halt and Catch Fire.
Just started it a few days ago and I'm already halfway through season 2.

The trouble with GA is that she's had that much work done on her face that it seems next to impossible now for her to convey any type of facial emotion.psychobain wrote:GA is amazingDonald wrote:So far not a fan of Gillian Anderson's character, but she plays her wellEJ wrote:the fall is excellentDonald wrote:Started watching The Fall and so far it's damn good, despite having that pants stain from 50 Shades in it - he plays a REALLY good creepy guy

Also the character Jimmy in The Fall has an uncanny resemblance to my best mate from High School/Uni - I'd give him a pardon
