They weren't necessarily playing the song live though - could have been blasting through a PA. Jus sayin.

They're playing live in the video. It sounds totally different to the record if you listen to it.

Or maybe you're one of these people who only heard the fixer once, decided you hated it and never listened again. I know a few people like that

Fair enough - I never managed to get through the first 60 seconds of the video as I had to spit out the little bit of vomit that got into my mouth. Good acting though, Stone actually looked like he was enjoying himself.

The most negative thing I remember was someone saying they'd wait til they heard it properly before they decided. Everyone else was lovin it and they're lying bastards if they say otherwise:)

I wonder if they'll do a video this time round, i assume so. They should do another animated one, they're always cool.

The music sounded deliciously raw and the lyrics were pretty mumbled from what I remember. The studio version was a bit of a head scratcher but I still find it an enjoyable song.

To be honest I prefer that rough recording that leaked from that day to the studio version.
But then live takes are usually better.

If I remember that correctly Mikes guitar at the end had that wall of phase sound we used to hear at the end of in my tree in 96.

I remember thinking that was awesome on that leak.

Fixer always reminded me of an attempt at Richard III by supergrass.
Now that's a great tune.

not anymore. I'm not sure it was even the whole song, and the sound quality was nigh-unlistenable. But starving men take what they can get. You're really not missing anything now.

The Fixer video, the Target choice, certain musical choices from Backspacer, and just the way they've been for the last several years, all 'keep on keepin' on' without saying anything much of substance. Lots of talk of 'efficiency' in the studio etc. Tacky, functional.
