To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Pearl Jam. The music is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Bulgakov or Bukowski most of the lyrics will go over a typical listeners head. There's also Eddie's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his lyrics - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics, to realize that they're not just slogans - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Pearl Jam truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the anguish in Eddie's existencial lyric "I'm still alive," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Eddie Vedder's genius unfolds itself on their speakers. What fools... how I pity them.

And yes by the way, I DO have a Stickman tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Broken record? It seems as though the vast majority of your posts on RM consist of complaints about the board and its posters, and have done since you started posting in 2013. It's hardly as though you've been witness to some huge decline in the quality of debate around here.

Might as well.
You are going to have to promote the next album anyway. This way it’s free and you can capture a bigger potential audience
Was a great opportunity lost imho

I still talk about PJ, the live shows, the albums...whatever comes to mind. I agree with the fact that there is no new music, and its getting tiresome to wait for new music, but i also agree that there is still room for conversations about PJ.

I got a buddy who we still jerk each other off whenever we talk about PJ. Can’t help it.

I don’t get this. The guy is multi multi multi millionaire and sports celebrity. Surely he can get “available” women’s numbers without resorting to that.

i think that maybe the fact that he is a billionaire is what makes a dude of that financial stature visit prostitutes. it's a business transaction... you're not going to be wading through a sea of women who are after you for your money. a prostitute more than likely doesn't know who you are, won't care, and when it's over, that's it. not going to have a clinger who tries to keep coming back or wants a relationship with Daddy Warbucks.

I guess that's the weird part...if I didn't like any band anymore I'm kinda done with following their every move and having discussions about their music (that I no longer like anyway). Seems like a huge waste of time/energy, especially for a band that's been around as long as PJ.
I don't think there's anyone here who likes the band's older output any less even though they've been disappointed in the band's recent material, almost everyone here is still a Pearl Jam fan in some respect (even if their fandom is strictly historical).
It's also the nature of the board having existed for a long time; people have developed friendships and camaraderie with other RM posters (and the Pearl Jam discussion is only one aspect of this place, perhaps not even the dominant aspect) and so it doesn't seem unusual to me that they'd continue to hang around, even once the initial reason they came here has fallen away.
This makes sense and gets a head nod until you take it a little further... some of these people who hang around for the camaraderie talk the same shit over and over and over again. This is what meatwad was getting at - the eternal question is not why still post here, it's why still post the same negative shit about something you haven't liked for years and years.
But again that's so baked into the RM cake at this point I don't even ever think about it much anymore.

Look, im strat, i love pearl jam more than most, but the band hasn't done anything new in 6-14 years depending on who you ask. There's nothing to talk about right now. This allows for the same jokes to be recycled in the similar fashion pearl jam recycles their MO for the past decade.
No, you are blaming it on the band and are not coming to grips with what you yourself can control. Whether the band releases anything that interests you or not, you are perfectly capable with coming up with a fresh and new thought.
Nah. There is literally nothing new or different to talk about with pearl jam. not until they drop a new album or a new song or something.
