I guess it's just too hard. We'll just have to accept that every so often a bunch of innocent kids and others will just have to get mowed down at school or the grocery store in the name of freedom right?

I wish they'd show footage of what those kids look like blown apart. Maybe that would shake people into action. Probably not though. Again, this country is sick and rotten to its core.

Verb also repeatedly suggested we just let Covid run rampant and do absolutely nothing. Then when stuff was done, he decided none of it was worthwhile. Just a defeated individual.

Which is arguably a more sane response to all of this than anything else, to be fair

I'm not trying to score points here, as seems to be the MO for most around here anymore. My fucking heart hurts too much, and frankly, I've given up on anyone having the decency to be affected by the deaths of schoolchildren in a burst of violence. It took one time for this to happen in Australia for the majority of people there to say "never again," and decide that guns in the hands of every individual probably isn't the best idea. Verb is right, that will never happen here, and I believe it's because this country lost its moral compass a long, long time ago.
