Just got this in the mail from my friend for my birthday

I know this has been talked about before, but can someone recommend where to start with some Star Wars novels? I'm looking to get into some series of reading and figured this would be a good thing to get into.

About me:

Have seen all Star Wars movies multiple times, a closet Star Wars geek. I'm kind of Luke and Han and Vadered out though, so if someone could point me in the direction of books that don't include too much of them if they are in that time frame. I also wouldn't mind getting into stuff pre-vader, etc.

Good post Ruddo..i've always wanted to dip my toe into all the extended universe stuff but i'm told a lot of it is crap with the odd gem..

I know you mentioned being tired of Luke/Han, etc but I think the Heir to the Empire Trilogy (aka Thrawn Trilogy) is the natural place to go first. They take place 5 years after ROTJ.

You could also just get the graphic novels which are nice way to consume the story quickly

Currently, the only cannon novel is Aftermath. Might as well start there.

I hear Honor Among Thieves by James S.A. Corey is awesome.
