Final Reckoning spoiler (do not read if you have not seen it yet):
Spoiler: show
Perhaps the end with Ethan carrying the Entity was a metaphor for Hollywood.

The closest thing would be Jackman/Wolverine, but that's largely from existing material like Harry Potter, and the consistent quality is not there.
Uh, Mission: Impossible has been around longer than Harry or Wolverine. Or Hugh Jackman for that matter.

But wolverine was born before the civil war.

It's close:

Mission: Impossible (1996), then 7 more films with Cruise
X-Men (2000), then 7 more films with Jackman (plus two more with cameos as Wolverine)

There was also a middle period on both franchises where they tried to transition away from both those guys (First Class for X-Men, Jeremy Renner for M:I), but neither franchise ever broke from those main guys

The TV show started in 1966. So it’s material that has existed for 60 years.

Today I watched it for the second time, in IMAX this time. All the stupid stuff is still there, and still stupid, and still sucks.

But man oh man, I'm more in love with that submarine sequence than ever. It's so beautiful. It almost redeems everything.

I enjoyed this. Was a bit of a mess in places, and while I enjoyed the sequence - the whole submarine scene annoyed the hell out of me

I missed my chance to see this in IMAX. Saw it on a regular screen. Bit still, the action is pretty fuckin crazy at times, particularly Cruise stunting on those old planes.
My biggest Holy Shit moment was seeing that the Russian sub was RIGHT THERE when Nathan opened that hatch to go diving.

And boy, those long exposition monologs really spelled things out for us.

Also, RIP Luther.

And bringing back the lab guy from the first movie was pretty great. And he played a part in the ending!
Great reveal that Shea Whigwas's character was the son of Jon Voights character from one of the previous movies.

If this was the end of the franchise, I say it ended on a high note with these 2 films.

Hayley Atwell is so fucking hot

B, I demand you issue a temp ban for Stickman.

We rarely get this level of insight into Stickman, so I vote we give him the mulligan on that post.

The thing has been out nearly a month! If you haven't seen it, why are you clicking on this thread??

I stayed out of the thread so as not to see any spoilers this whole time. You can do the same.

It’s not the spoiler piece; it’s that you think of that reveal in any positive terms.

Also, probably worth clarifying that I am rarely serious on this board unless it’s about the fade at the end of the album version of Life Wasted.

Why the fuck wouldn’t they just destroy the entity as soon as they had it trapped in that thing?
