Yellow moon.
I'm not kidding.
This song obviously borrows from LL, but I find it has enough of its own (quite different) atmosphere, so it's fine. It's an example of derivation actually working for me.McParadigm wrote:Mike has a solo that has a similar feel and extremely similar tone to Low Light, and there's a moment in there that is incredibly similar to the fade out portion of LL....I think it's right before the last chorus. Mike's kind of Miking over the top, but other than that its totes there.mastaflatch wrote:yeah, that's about it, really.stip wrote:I heard it in some of the initial strumming at the start of the song
Those were the parts that made me think about Low Light and how much stronger a track it is. The rest is what directed my mind towards 2000-2002.
its still right there with infallible for my #2 behind pendulum, there is so much great stuff on this albumchinofstone wrote:This song right here is stuck in my head.
Rivaling Infallible as my favorite. Right next to Getaway.
I actually agree. I love Lowlight, but Yellow Moon at least has the potential to earn a higher rating in the end.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:mray10 wrote:Did Yield kick your puppy or something?stip wrote:i think this song is so much better than lowlight, which I never really felt much like listening to
Lowlight is fabulous.![]()
Lowlight is great, and its too soon to compare but i feel like im gonna like yellow moon better

i agree with that, i can hear notes of lowlight in YM but they arent by any means the same songsE.H. Ruddock wrote:Here's a thought: They are two different songs and I like them both for different reasons.
This is what is baffling for me. I agree with you 100%, but for some reason, I like Sirens more so than Yellow Moon at this point.BurtReynolds wrote:Where Sirens sounds like a bloated, overworked, "hey look at me! please pay attention to us again! Look how big we sound!" embarassment of a song, this sounds a little undercooked and less ambitious. I'll take Yellow Moon Pearl Jam over Sirens Pearl Jam any day. It has a lot less BOBstink on it.
If its true that it barely made the album, then it makes perfect sense, as they love to leave great songs off of shitty albums.
I get that, but it's the style of song. YM is the kind of song I think I would prefer. Sirens is the type of song I normally do not care for. YM has elements that I want in a song. Sirens does not. Yet I like Sirens more (at this point).stip wrote:they're both very good songs (although I prefer Yellow Moon). They're reaching for different places and doing different things. Liking one doesn't preclude you from disliking the other.
This makes sense, works with the death/suicide theory too. I just wish the first one was a little more subtle, its before the bridge right? he ain't ascended yet mccready!stip wrote:Mike on the solo from the billboard article:
"In terms of a lead," explains McCready, "I feel that that was trying to actually write a beautiful part of a person ascending."
