Blood money
Rain dogs
Bone Machine
Mule Variations

Number 5 is a tough choice. Probably Heartattack and vine

1. Alice
2. Rain Dogs
3. Blood Money
4. Mule Variations
5. Bone Machine

I genuinely think Orphans, Big Time and the One From the Heart OST are among his best work. They'd all be somewhere in my Top 10 if they counted as "proper" albums.

I can support this. My order would be admittedly different, and Mule Variations might kick Swordfish or Blood Money out, but it's all real close for me after Rain Dogs / Bone Machine / Real Gone.

But then, maybe not. Frank's is a brilliant exercise in self-destructive denial. And Heartattack is a bleary-eyed, tube-warm sea change. And Heart of Saturday...

you know, real gone might very well be my number 5. After those first four albums every tom waits album is a collection of sublime songs, mid carders, and a few things I don't really care about. And while Real Gone is consistently pretty good, even if it doesn't have quite as many greats.

How's it Gonna End is one of the very very best, though. Favorite bridge lyrics of all time.

Awesome album. I love '70's Waits -- it gets understandably overshadowed by the post-"Heartattack" albums but there are so many great, great songs on those albums.

I love the overall chilling vibe of it. Its a very cool one for a slow relaxed night.

Outside of Alice, I can't get into mellow Waits.

Ha, I actually almost added an exception for that song in my post. That's a good one.
