I actually thought Magneto and X dominated First Class MORE than the original Trilogy... If Fassbender's Magneto wasnt so awesome in FirsT Class I might not have even liked it that much?

I'm not referring to screen time or the degree to which they were the "main" characters of the movies. I'm talking about the plot basically being controlled by the decisions and reactions of those two people, but the screen time being mostly directed elsewhere. The other X-Men just felt like the limbs that carry out the behaviors Magneto and the Prof dictated, making it really hard for me to give two shits about anybody EXCEPT those two, and yet all those other X-Men got huge swaths of screen time. Reference: my comparison to henchmen before.

I'm pretty sure that my entire reaction to Jean Grey's "death" was akin to "I guess Professor X just lost one of his most powerful weapons...I wonder what he'll do now." Not, like, "oh how sad, an essential and interesting character just bit it," or anything close to that. And the professor's death was the one time in all those movies where I got anywhere remotely near "Gee, I wonder what happens now," because suddenly the henchmen were left to save the day with the main character vanquished and for the first time they were sort of interesting.

But does that even get played out that way? I honestly don't remember. Do the X-Men go through a period where they struggle to know what to do, or how to handle a situation, once the Professor's gone? The movie must bring that in, somehow, because if the loss of his leadership doesn't screw them up all over the place, then it wouldn't really have any value in the first place. He'd just be another mutant, who happens to own a big house they all can camp out in and is kinda bossy all the time. Man, it's been a long time since I saw these.

Anyways, my point is, First Class acknowledged that it was basically just a story about those two figures, and didn't try to treat every single person around them like a main character. It acknowledged and treated those people like the pawns they were, and didn't spread itself way too thin to tell a character story. I appreciated that about it. It also didn't overuse Wolverine, which I also appreciated.

my belief is since wolverine is the one who goes back in time to possess his younger body that he will inhabit it while it has its metal claws and somehow keep them

he has had the adamantium drawn out from his body and it was only then it was revealed that he had the bone claws. it taxed his healing power and that is also when he gave up smoking. I believe in the comics that Apocalypse rebonded the metal with his skeleton in order to make him his horseman, Death.

in theory in the movie verse his bone claws should grow back. i cant remember if they showed him popping his claws at the airport or not, but i would assume at least those grow back

he popped the bone claws almost right after getting the metal ones hacked off to finally take down Yashida, and he did indeed pop one again at the airport in Magneto's face.

If you look close at the pictures for those mag covers, im pretty sure the "topless" one is in the "past" timeline, and its bone claws, AND if what Singer is saying is true, the "past" is early 70s. In the movie verse, Wolverine Origins took place in the late 70s / early 80s, so if DoFP is taking place in the early 70s, its pre-adamantium, and the "soldier" on the cover, is the young William Stryker so... yeah?

this could get really confusing... LOL I really hope Singer has had a few people read through the script before they shot this to make sure they didnt royally screw anything up.

we get another movie with Ian and Patrick! even if theyre only in 30-40% of the movie... that alone will make it worth while.
