I just heard that today. Other than the fact that mike hold's that note at the end for an awkwardly long time that's a killer song

Stip has draft cards like that filled out for every single song in the REM catalog.

You should see his REM scout team.

They were young when I hired them 20 years ago

Inspired by this thread I'm giving an hour to try to understand and appreciate this band. I try every year and always walk away under whelmed.
I'll try again with the winner. Are you guys planning on compiling mixes?

I wasn't, but picking e winning team and just listening in chronological order would give you a solid overview.
Or just download eponymous (a really useful intro to their early years) and automatic for the people

I'll make you an REM mix, LMS. It will be made with love.

A girlfriend had Automatic, I have Reveal (why?) and In Time. I just seem to get bored by Stipe. I enjoy a lot of the music though.
I had Monster before release as I worked on the promotional TV ad and radio ads and it was wasted on me.
currently listening to In Time again.

I will send you a mix of stip and me covering our fifteen favorite REM songs. That should do the trick.

Is that the one where REM are playing through a tape deck, there's one mic, a drumkit and Stip bangs an ashtray?

I'll send you a tour shirt to wear while you listen.
KD once said something to the effect of no singer ever being able to do so much with as limited/one dimensional voice as stipe. It's possible you just won't be into him.
Try eponymous. The earlier stuff will have a very different feel from the rem you've heard.
