What six years of Marvel fatigue does
About 2012's The Avengers, BurtReynolds wrote: This is the movie ive dreamed about since i was twelve. I adore this movie. I couldnt believe it lived up to the hype. I seldom see a movie more than once, but could watch this ten more times. Its like my star wars.
About 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, BurtReynolds wrote: It was ok I guess. Thanos was cool. Some stuff happened.
Anders wrote: I do not have a «neoliberal assessment of geopolitics», so please stop writing that I do.

Started watching a half watchable rip of this last night. If I hadn't seen it at the theater I'd probably have no idea what was going on

Spoiler: show Good :
-Thanos
-The fact that Thor and Strange had a lot to do. Helmsworth and Cumberbatch are fun to watch, and their powers give them cool stuff to do.
-The Guardians were handled pretty well. I'm not a fan of those movies.
Bad :
-Lots of cringy one liners and all around terrible dialogue.
-With the exception of Thanos, the bad guys continue to disappoint.
-the Wakanda stuff was universally bad. I expected Gungans to start showing up. At least that would have been creative.
-Cap and Black Panther got lost in the crowd, but I guess that's bound to happen to some characters.
weird :
-Is it just me or were some of them acting out of character? Banner especially.
-Spider's claw things. Silly.
-Looks like they've finally made Iron Man a T-1000. His suit is basically magic.

I absolutely thought this was gonna happen.
Spoiler: show i believe you have to walk/fall through the portal in order for him to shut it. none of them were forcing thanos to move unless he wanted to
Could have opened it under him so he fell.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

No way, that shot of Hulk running on Wakanda wasn't unused. It was purposely created to fuck with us. Marvel trailers will never ruin their movies b/c we'll never believe them.

The main complaint I'm seeing on social media, oddly enough, is
Spoiler: show how they explained away Ant Man and Hawkeye, and how, when the whole fucking universe is in danger, they didn't say "ok, maybe we should call them to help out a little"

That is kind of mitigated by how the whole movie basically takes place
Spoiler: show on another planet or in a secret country, and seems to happen very quickly
Please consider voting for me

Saw this today. A solid B/B+. I was surprised how much I liked Thanos. He was a much more interesting character than I imagined they would make him.
Spoiler: show The last ten minutes received multiple gasps and "What?!"s from the crowd.
I thought Cate Blanchett would make an appearance as the godess of death, based on the comics.
Even though I know there will be a Spider Man sequel, Tom Holland's last scene absolutely gave me a bit of a lump in my throat.
I'm 99.99999% sure Dr. Strange's decision to give Thanos the time gem will play into everyone coming back to life, but it was a fun two and a half hours.

That was one of my biggest complaints with Civil War. The trailer used multiple shots of the end fight between Iron Man, Cap and Bucky. So they have the big airport show down, Cap and Bucky escape, Iron Man has second thoughts and realizes, shit I need to go help Cap. Shows up in Siberia and they all hug it out... except you still knew that scene was coming. So yeah, that trailer kinda did ruin that final fight, or at least you knew another plot swerve was coming to split them back up.

I rewatched Iron Man 2 yesterday. It's better than this.
