At a pre-Oscars event, The Daily Beast caught up with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and asked a number of Star Wars related questions. Though Episode VIII will be directed by Rian Johnson and Episode IX by Collin Colin Trevorrow, Abrams will remain an executive producer and was a key member in charting out the direction the new trilogy is heading. While The Force Awakens has been universally praised for its diversity and female empowerment, the gay and lesbian community doesn't exactly have a clear representative in the Star Wars universe. In fact, with the Expanded universe being nixed by Disney, the new Star Wars universe introduced its first openly gay character in Paul S. Kemp's "Star Wars; Lords of the Sith". When asked whether the new Star Wars filsm would have more openly gay characters, Abrams stated--
"Of course! When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters. It’s about inclusivity. So of course. To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world. "

I'm really not up for the idea that there *has* to be a gay character in Star Wars..
Our society is suffering a flu right now of everyone complaining that whatever group they're part of not being represented (Ian McKellan yestrerday complaining that there's never been an openly gay Oscar winner..) i Mean come onnnn..you're not being excluded because of whatever tribe you're in, perhaps your skin colour or sexuality just isn't all that important or relevant to the part/film or you didn't get nominated 'cos you just didn't bring what it takes to the part..and if we're gonna start having to include everything or everyone just 'cos a few feel slighted, it's to the detriment of the whole thing, be it a film or film as a whole..
And while i'm at it, fuck Dicaprio..that's a pity Oscar and we all know it i'm embarrassed for him turning up for it.

Totally agree with you there. It's equal opportunity after all.
Hetero actors are simply more superior than gay actors. (Joking)

Clooney is a closet case as is Cruise, they've both won(have they?), but they're not out i guess is the argument. And I get why crusaders get their knickers in a twist but *having* to have a gay character in SW and Abrams etc repeatedly being asked about it, IS that gay agenda which i never thought existed really but it seems is a real thing and frankly, i'm appalled by it.
Does far more harm to a worthy cause than good.

Star wars just doesnt really even hit on sexuality anyway, i feel. Sure a Han and Leia romance, but thats about it. Whats the point of having to have a gay character anyway? It would totally be shoe horned in and end up being more lIke Batman v Superman than a star wars movie.

Han: hetero
Leia: hetero
Luke: incestual
Anakin: hetero
Padme: hetero
Finn: bisexual?
I guess that's all we know. I guess there's more in Clone Wars. Obi-Wan and Asoka had love interests for at least one episode each.
You could make the argument that no one's sexuality is very much apparent or used to motivate their actions other than Anakin.

how does sex or attraction even work in the star wars galaxy?
Jedi or force capable people are obviously the most attractive and most dangerous lovers..
they can make you love them without you even knowing..and they can tickle your bits with the force...imagine that over dinner!
