LV's opinions as to most music is the equivalent of stip's opinions as to PJ.
I've learned to smile and nod and carry on.
Sorry chaps, gotta run. I'm off to spin Lost in the Dream...

LV is right about Gaga, though. She's a good choice-- not the best choice-- but a really talented performer with a clear debt to Bowie's legacy. She's a good compromise between getting a "big" name for ratings and getting someone like Annie Clark, who'd likely do something mindblowing but has a smaller audience.
Gaga will do a good job.

She'll wear an orange wig and sing karaoke while the audience sits uncomfortably waiting for Kanye to throw a pie or something. Then we'll all sink a little deeper into the abyss...

I think Gaga is more shtick than talent. I mean she's technically valid but she doesn't seem to have the artistic talent to sustain a long term career. She seems to have the same non existing long standing power as the ton of pop stars to whom the labels stop giving hit material by the time they've turned 30.
I think the shtick is what got her the Bowie tribute gig, but she seems to be the only person to still care about said shtick.

I agree. She seems to know it, thats why she is doing all the movies and series.

She's been relevant for almost 10 years guys. Now, she's getting acting gigs and doing well with it. You're wrong.

Seriously. You guys not liking her music doesn't mean she doesn't have the talent to sustain pop relevance.

Fine, but like many modern day celebs, she's more a brand than a real talent.
This is antiquated bullshit. She's a brand and a talent. Branding is just part of the game now. That does not negate talent.

No, but it often trumps anything of real creative merit. Too many acts are weary of going off-brand, or when they do, it's not terribly risky. Witness Lightning Bolt.
But this obviously doesn't apply to Gaga, so what are we talking about here?
