The head of the FAA had imposed fines on Musk and SpaceX for violating air safety regulations. Musk forced the FAA head to resign because he “over-regulated” air safety requirements. At the time of the Potomac plane crash Trump had not replaced the FAA Administrator.

https://www.space.com/faa-fining-spacex-launches-2023

The head of the FAA, Mike Whitaker, resigned on January 20 — one year into his 5 year term — after facing relentless criticism from Musk for not approving SpaceX missions quickly enough.

The Senate confirmed him unanimously in 2023.

No acting FAA head has been appointed.
The FAA is currently subject to a hiring freeze and staff received an email, “A fork in the road,” encouraging them to resign regardless of their job responsibilities

I think it’s pretty obvious that no administration policy or action could be said to have produced (or potentially prevented) this incident. It’s only been the administration for a few days.

I also think that moments like this demonstrate the need for a functioning and funded government bureaucracy of services. Every level of preventative or responsive action here is sourced to a government apparatus. There are pre-existing shortages, like air traffic controllers, that have already stretched our safety margins thin. Playing stupid games around funding, loyalty, and staffing without careful planning to understand and mitigate risk can only serve to make dangerous moments like this one more likely, and us less prepared to deal with them.

Lastly, I also think it sucks pretty hard for the president of the United States to respond by going on social media and conjecturally suggesting blame.

It didn’t stop Trump making a political football of the LA fires. You can be damn sure he’d be doing it right now with this crash if it was Biden.

As a matter of fact he just did in that rambling press conference.

He’s blaming diversity for the Potomac crash. Essentially stated the highest genius is white. New lows for this garbage human.

He's lying, but for good reasons! Because some foreign leader he hates but is obsessed with does it to. For what purpose? Who knows? I doubt it works on anyone here.
