Maleficent. Rough opening, surprisingly intriguing mid-section, and a terrible, deeply flawed ending that pretty much ruined everything I liked about it. Shame.

Makes sense, since we have very different views on movies. And to clarify:

1. By overly high, I'm talking around the 85%+ range.

2. It's mostly modern movies that this rule applies to.

I have not done any formal qualitative research into this, but I use RT a lot for new movies and this is my impression, which may or may not hold up to qualitative analysis:
A very high RT score (like 95%+) is likely to be worth watching, but is unlikely to become a favorite of mine. I wouldn't regret seeing it, but I probably won't want to see it again.
exception: animated films, which kind of goes to show that a film getting nearly unanimously positive reviews is probably too much like a children's film.
like LV said, this would only be for new movies.

when you're thinking about an excellent RT score, you're thinking about a terrible RT score. when you think of godzilla, you also think of the opposite of godzilla.

Going to a screening of Blow-Up later tonight. The only other Antonioni I've seen is L'aaventura, and it didn't send me running to go see more Antonioni. fingers crossed

Well, I'm still not about to go run to see more Antonioni. There is definitely something to it, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. There are similarities to Godard, but Godard is better looking, cooler, and just overall more compelling. There are similarities to Bunuel, but Bunuel is more hilarious and subversive. I don't quite see the appeal here.
