I've been around PJ message boards for 20+ years and this is the first time that I can remember that discussion of full-band music is being prevented.

I still feel as a fan some context to this is missing. I have no issue with B and Stips decisions on this Dark Matter. I would like to know before I react/ respond the following. Did Pearl Jam ask kindly if we would stop Running our mouths. Did they threatened legal action against the forum? Did they really threatened 10c membership? I have never been a member BTW it's not how I fandome.
A few things about a leak. You know if you look back on Puzzles and Games . It is probably a bit unnerving as a artist when something comes out that is connected to another song and offers a peeping tom type of access to their process .
Pearl Jam has really offered a unprecedented look into the band and has fosted and maintained a relationship with there fans that is really unrivaled.
On this matter they had to act quickly or things could go south on this fast for them. That left very little time to come up with a solution.
I hope the sharing of this material does stop. I also hope that they do have a lost dogs 2 type thing planned.
Current state of music is such that the big role out aren't really needed . I think there sales are pretty much set in stone.
If they can put a package together It will sell.
A song can be life changing it is a gift . You hear it then if it resonates with you and you carry it forever it can console you in a time of grief it can inspire you in time of hardship it can hold you responsible to a higher calling or goal. It can frame a memory till the end of time. Mike Ed Stone Jeff and Matt all know this, but probably do get a bit caught up in the day to day of running a business. Obviously a band of 35 years has probably a unimaginable amount of unrealized material. I think they should start thinking about the point of not releasing it. It's going to change lives. In the digital age it's not difficult.

To be fair it includes a former PJ member. Or the stuff that was hacked from his laptop did...

Does Pearl Jam have a history of hacking or leaking issues or is this a new thing?

There have been several leaks.
The Birdman sessions, the rarities unreleased cuts disk, the Avocado instrumentals and outtakes, the cockage tapes, etc.
