You should change your avatar, right?Mickey wrote:But see that's exactly why I'm resistant to the anti-Florida discourse--not really much dumber than what happened 30 minutes outside of Denver on Sunday, or the reopen protests in Philadelphia last week, but it allows folks to be like "ah, batshit Florida" and exceptionalize it, hiding the fact that there are batshit, raving morons in every single state.

While I'm not opposed to any of these protest cretins shuffling off the ol' mortal coil, my aging parents live in Clearwater so I really, truly hope these people fucking eat it sooner rather than later!
Interestingly I was in Clearwater in March, right as all this started blowing up. I passed by that court house and there was about two blocks of Trump supporters having a pep rally, for the lack of a better word, just before the primary,Mickey wrote:As someone from Florida who has lived all over the country I'm resistant to the Florida-man discourse, there's just as many crazies in Arkansas and Nevada and New York, but...

I know this is really nothing new when you get down to it. Confirms the obvious?[In the U.S.] But despite warnings about supply shortages by health experts and governors at least as early as February, the federal government took until late April to ramp up domestic production of swabs — a universal ingredient in the most common type of COVID-19 test.
Absolutely correct. I live in Oregon, and most people think Oregon=Portland. However, I can assure you I live in a moronic hellscape of white-trash conservatives the likes of which would make the panhandle green with envy.Mickey wrote:But see that's exactly why I'm resistant to the anti-Florida discourse--not really much dumber than what happened 30 minutes outside of Denver on Sunday, or the reopen protests in Philadelphia last week, but it allows folks to be like "ah, batshit Florida" and exceptionalize it, hiding the fact that there are batshit, raving morons in every single state.
Yeah, I lived in Nevada for four years so I got a good taste of west coast loonies. Don't have a ton of personal experience with Oregon but I had friends from there who talked about how nuts it could get, and obviously there's the Bundy family connection. Now we live in Pennsylvania and--surprise!--crazy people here too.Superblood Wolfmoon wrote:Absolutely correct. I live in Oregon, and most people think Oregon=Portland. They are everywhere. And they are loud. And they have guns. And Facebook accounts.

Orange man's negligence means we will never catch up to the Faeroe Islands! This is a highly relevant statistic!B wrote:Fuck you! Ask China!McParadigm wrote:As of this morning we are 42nd in per capita testing. We were in the thirties until late last week. We fell further behind.
