I think 5/10 is a fairly charitable score, really.

Relative to pitchfork or would you feel uneasy about giving it such a high score?

How have you developed this level of distaste for them without having seen their site?

Positive or negative, pitchfork reviews are usually pretty well written and have at least some thoughtful take on the subject. I look forward to them.

For Pitchfork or in general? I think these ratings depend on how you rate everything else. Pitchfork seems to have the medium at 7.something and a 5 is pretty low for them.

Really? You literally look forward to the next Pitchfork review even before the fact?

None, I just don't think it's a mini crisis when no one is really upset about it.

he's implying that the 5 is a generous score for the album, because he doesn't think it's good.

In the context of a website that reviews newly-released music generally, I mean.

I look forward to reading them for albums I'm interested in. What's wrong with that?

But he's talked about how great a couple are? and has slyly posted a few times "this is actually pretty good!"

I feel as if I'm ready to admit that the two or three missteps I find on Lightning Bolt are starting to sour me on it. It's early days. But I need to give it a break, at the very least.

I always look forward toward Pitchfork reviews because they're good. It doesn't mean i agree with everything they review.

No, I'm not.

Haven't I been pretty complimentary to the album generally? I think it's an improvement on Backspacer at least.

goes to show how much a music review is worth. a guy listens to a record twice and reviews it. why would anyone want to read that?
