At worst (for the suspect) he shrugged/ gestured and the cop interpreted that as resistance. He initially gave up that one arm behind his back. Who teaches body slams for suspects that aren't actively fighting you? Would have had that guy in cuffs in 10 seconds without injury without that theatricality.

Absolutely no patience. If the dude resisted for any appreciable amount of time, then maybe some use of force would be understandable, but this was a very brief interaction. Dude barely had time to get his hands behind his back. (Also, conflict between demands to remove backpack and show hands)

I am simultaneously in awe that some jurisdictions have the manpower to investigate car break ins. There has to be a happier medium between whatever this is and just not responding to 'mere' property crimes.

If only there were 17 year olds to keep order.

those fireworks could have easily been mixed in with something more dangerous and in my mind the cops would have been totally justified defending themselves and retaliating

I didn't say they shouldn't be charged with a crime.

Also, we should water down the term "terrorism" some more. It's not completely meaningless just yet.
