I'd have to say that the top 5 songs in that poll are also my top 5. The only ones I'm not into are Sirens, Future Days and SBM. Sirens has grown on my a little but I just can't stand Future Days at all. 12 songs with only 3 dislike is definitely a solid album for me. Well done Pearl Jam, you can have more of my money for the duration of this album cycle and we'll review the budget again upon the next release.

One of them was probably McP, just to make people say, "who the fuck did that?"

The other one was probably B, bc he genuinely loves it.

I'm a wee bit disappointed SW hasn't got more love.

It's slyly worked its way into being my second-favourite song on the record.

SW is in the next bracket down for me. I like it too, it's just not quite top tier stuff but it's not one I'd skip.

It is good, isn't it? Flown under the radar a bit but very enjoyable.

OK, which ones are you skipping at the moment?

(awaits: "the whole album" :haha: )

For me it's Sirens, LB (sorry Stip!), SBM and FD.

The only real skippers for me (at this point) are Infallible, Yellow Moon and Future Days.

The rest I can stomach to varying degrees.

Only LTRP, LB and FD.

All of those are my skippers except LB is okay with me. One of the weaker ones but I'm not skipping it yet. SBM isn't a bad song in itself, I just dislike the band version. I don't think they do that lite-country rock thing very well.

LTRP was a total skipper early but I've warmed to it a bit. Something about the weird melding of two musically different styles in the verse and chorus has grown on me a bit. As long as I don't focus on the lyrics I'm okay.

Could FD be the most universally reviled new song since... fuck I dunno?

will be interesting to compare these songs' listens on Last.fm a little further down the road and see how they rank against one another. Guessing Future Days will be way down the line.

I am unaccounted for. I vote for change.

But Future Days creates a space for itself, and promptly goes about not filling it all the way up. For that alone...that simple love of the space between the notes...it displays a more subtle craft than a thousand tom rolling Pearled Ham "we're still that band" siren songs. And in an album coated with a love for and awareness of the fragility of life, its the only song to actually sound fragile or loving.

So there.

I'm only skipping LTRP and FD at the moment (and occasionally Sirens - I really played that to death when it was first released).

I'm more concerned about the fact that Infallible has as many votes as My Father's Son and Swallowed Whole combined :shake:

Sounds more like you are describing CC than FD.
