I like Snyder but I'm not sure I'm with you here, Len. Both are wonderful filmmakers that have some brilliant films and some wonky films, to be sure.

Snyder is the third greatest living director (behind Polanski and Spielberg).

I love all of Fincher's films except for The Game. I guess Alien 3? But I fucking love that movie, too.

Fincher is a great stylist but I don’t know that he has a very interesting voice artistically.

His contemporary interpretation of myth speaks to the deepest core of who I am and what I value as a human being. It’s very personal for me.

It's fine as far as craft goes. I like the performances and I like Fincher's work as a stylist in general. The issues I have with that movie all fall on the script/concept. To be more frank, the title ruined the movie. It's like if M. Night had called The Sixth Sense, The Ghost Who Talks To The Kid Who Sees Ghosts.

I mean...not really. That’s a pretty weird thing to take issue with.

I guess I can kind of see that. For me it was the whole - is this just a game or is this for real - back and forth. The title never threw me

It will also be a masterpiece.
I'd rather a decent Atlas Shrugged, complete with the 45-page speech in the last 3/4.

Have you watched it more than once? I find it has no replay value from a storytelling perspective. When all the suspense is taken away, it's hollow outside of the other things I like about looking at Fincher films. But I think each of his other films (that I've seen) don't have this same problem. His other films reveal themselves and become more interesting the more you watch and examine them.
