Give Way is a funny release because they offered it up with SVT, then pulled it back. Then a promo copy of the full show circulated amongst fans (can I say that?). Then they officially released it on RSD, but it was a shortened version.

In the PJ20 book, Jack Irons said they planned to release all the South Pacific Yield tour shows, which turned into releasing LO2L instead.

They love withholding things from us. At least that's how it feels.

I have a confession to make; I've still never listened to Lightning Bolt. Not even once. Maybe it would be my favorite PJ album if I did. I literally can't comment on how much I'd like or dislike it because I haven't heard it the first time yet. Maybe that makes me an awful fan lol. I didn't pre-emptively decide I hated it or anything. I listened to Dark Matter the day it came out and many times since. Just with LB I... didn't. Then weeks turned into months turned into years, if that makes sense.

Of all the albums to not listen to—you’d be fine with LB. IMHO.

i also stood outside of a best buy waiting with about 7 other people (who looked like weirdos) for the store to open specifically so we could get Give Way

i remember a store employee approaching the glass door and instead of opening it taping up a notice that they would not be giving away give way

the irony

i did think it seemed too good to be true

so made sense we wouldnt get it

such is the dramatic arc of the PJ fan experience
